Walter Korff evaluates the MGA

(I looked at all the threads in which Walter Korff is mentioned and didn't find this.
Hope I didn't miss it. :o )

Aerohead,

this one's for you!
A thank you for all your posts that have educated/entertained us all.

Second only to the holy Hucho, Walter Korff is frequently mentioned as having
done good work on auto aero "back in the day."

I found this article on Korff's evaluation of the aerodynamics of the venerable
MGA. Noteworthy is his highlighting various passenger comfort issues that were
caused or made worse by the car's airflow.

As you can see, there are other important aerodynamic factors to automotive
design aside from basic streamlining. Many other production cars share the MGA’s
ills in this respect. Correction is, in some instances, restricted by other
requirements, but it's easy to conclude that little - if any - consideration was given
to these aspects in the design of the subject vehicle, yet both performance and
passenger comfort could have been noticeably better if it had.

The MG was pretty good up to the front wheels! You've seen their 1957 EX-181? (Cd 0.12)
