I love how the repair cost is $26,000. I guess that means the battery and motor are only worth $8,000.

Looks like the perfect candidate for a swap to me.

No rebate. No warranty. It sells Monday. I found several already went through salvage auctions. My Altima had 14 k in damage, fixed it for $6500. I get 25% off Nissan parts.
Buy the car, use the battery for your electric car. Buy another one, use the parts from this one to fix it.
Probably cost $1500 to get it shipped here. 48X$665 battery modules in that baby.
I know where my Leaf will come from if I ever get one, they will be for sale on the east coast soon, and within a year they will be at the salvage auctions around here where I can inspect them in person.
I love my recycled cars ;).
Brother has a trailer and a truck.
Bet I could get it on the road for $15k, started fixing wrecks in 1969, done a couple hundred rebuilts since 1973.
Bought a BMW 2002, 1971 model for $300 hit in the rear. No parts and the previous owner had spent $1200 on stuff including a $300 stereo system within 30 days before I bought the car.

I'd be all over that if it weren't so far away!

I would still rather just pull the motor, controller, and battery pack and then swap it into a more preferable (in my opinion) car.

Maybe my next investment will be a Leaf Salvage yard. My buddy has an 8700 square foot building, plenty of room. Stripped down the parts would sell for more than the car cost new, probably by a margin of 2 to 1. I'll check the crash book tomorrow for prices on the replacement parts. Bet it would be less than $5k. Repair cost about $3k. I can do a lot of the labor myself. Junk yards don't want them yet, too new. The decimal is not off Neil. There is your battery pack.

Your are right I like to gamble on sure things ;). Then is isn't gambling at all. New cars like the Leaf have no used parts availability. You have to use new parts so the re builders generally shy away from them. I once bought a 93-97 Atlima and used it to rebuild 4 other Altimas. Water damaged cars with no body damage make perfect candidates. Front end on 1, side on 1, other side on 1, rear end on 1. Each car only cost $750 in parts to fix. My buddy, who owns his won shop has been working on cars since he was 12, his father is still rebuilding them at 72. Between the 3 of us we can fix anything. No one wants that expensive a car with no warranty or a salvage title. I have had better luck with wrecked cars than used cars as general rule. I KNOW why the wrecked car is available, a used car is a completely different proposition.

If you find one with a clear title, from a private seller, that was not damaged enough to be totalled then the factory warranty is still in effect. Lots of rentals and lease returns fall into this category.
