Wanted: 3.52 Final drive Metro/Swift

Does anyone have an extra 3.52 set of gears laying around? I currently should have 4.39 gears and wouldn't mind the taller gearing. Will trade + cash if you want.

I found a set on ebay for $200, but would like to get it cheaper.

I’ll look but I think I got rid of all my Metro stuff. The 3.79 ratio works well and are much more available. They come in all the 95+ four cylinder cars. The 3.52 is only in the early four cylinder single ohc cars.

I havent verified what is in the trans I have, but its from a 98 four cylinder sedan.

That should be a 3.79.

Yup, should be 3.79

Whats the easiest way to confirm? It's sitting on an old tire in the garage right now, so I could take it apart, but it's a mess so it will have to wait a bit.

My experience with fwd transmissions is very limited. Replaced a clutch once and thats about it.

There's a 3-bolt plate on the case near the bottom. Remove that and count the teeth on the ring gear. Should be 72 teeth on your trans.

79:18 = 4.389 (1995+ & Convertible 993cc)
78:19 = 4.105 (GT/GTi & 1989-1994 993cc)
72:19 = 3.789 (1995+ 1298cc & XFi)
74:21 = 3.524 (pre-1995 SOHC 1298cc)

Is the final drive gear part of the shaft pictured or is it pressed on? Does anyone know?

It is part of that shaft. To change gear ratios you have to completely tear it apart.

You can count the crown gear teeth through the oil fill hole. Just mark one tooth and start counting.
