$500 2001 manual Insight Chandler, Arizona

The three pictures look good, but they do not say what is wrong with it:

They did not repost, so I do not know if it already sold, was a scam, or what.

Pity.

I really need a third project Honda. It is taking me all night just to change Mom's oil.

(I needed to run to the store to purchase an oil filter wrench. I have never needed one)

$1,600 2000 Insight with 175,000 miles and new dead IMA

https://phoenix.craigslist.org/wvl/c...904233789.html

The car was put into storage last fall and the battery did not survive. The owner thinks it is the charging module, not the then-new battery with then-new cells.

"Runs and drives well," but is photographed on a trailer. Then again, the registration expired when Hybrid ReVolt did not respond. They cannot register because of the CEL.

That is not an issue if your county does not do emissions testing, right?

Personally, I think the owner played himself, but what do I know?

If the hybrid battery dies and you do nothing, the car will start and run but intermittently not charge the 12v battery, leaving you stranded now and then. The "fix" is easy enough, unplug the connectors from the computers in the back of the car and it will be a super reliable non-hybrid, albeit with a check engine light.

The CEL can be disabled with a relatively easy Arduino mod.

Can't say I'd want to drive anything in an Arizona summer without A/C.

Both My.CarFax.com and VehicleHistory.com say the VIN is invalid. I asked for a picture of the VIN.

"Error Code: 1 - Check Digit (9th position) does not calculate properly" https://vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov/decoder/Decoder

"Number 9 is the check digit, which is used to detect invalid VINs. The number that appears varies and is based on a mathematical formula that the U.S. Department of Transportation developed." https://www.edmunds.com/how-to/how-t...-your-vin.html

It could be JHMZE1371YT000007, 1 is the only ninth digit that passed the check. However, there is not any information on such a car: https://www.vehiclehistory.com/vin-r...ZE1371YT000007

Wrong green! Haven't seen a darker green repaint on an Insight before. I wonder if it's an actual repaint or just a wrap.

I've driven several thousand miles with the battery turned off and it works fine if you cut one wire to keep the 12v charged at 14V vs 12.5V. MPG is pretty much the same except for in heavy stop and go traffic. Insanely reliable too; 260k miles and no oil burning or anything.

No AC in Phoenix sounds like a death wish, and AC compressors are expensive, unless it just needs the refrigerant refilled. Although you'd get better MPG with the AC off.

He also said nothing about transmission grinds, wet seatbelt issues, tires, etc. so there may be other problems as well. How far away from you is it?
