My best looking grill block yet.

After playing ~6 hours of BF4 I got bored and started roaming the house. My mom said "Stop roaming Tim you're going to wear out the carpet, didn't you want to do that grill thingy to your car?" So yea. Put my boredom to work. I think it turned out quite well, the insight has a lower plastic piece that made an awesome mounting point. I would say this is a ~75-85% lower and 100% upper block. God forbid I have to open my hood.

I'll post more pics tomorrow, but it was 2 in the morning when I took this and it's cold. Very cold.

[Edit]: I'm actually kind of wondering if this will help my intake temps. I think so, since there will be less air flowing around under the hood.

With a new radiator, grilles blocks are even more relevant. I would hesitate to run it too hot, especially since it's already been there a number of times.

Made this one yesterday.

Yea I didn't secure the right side to much (drivers side) it would take me all of 10 seconds to rip it off at a stop light if it starts to get too hot. My entire commute is city so, I can pull over immediately if I need to.

I saw your aluminum one, I was very jealous. Did it help with warm up times? I'm not concerned with drag drop as all I care about are warmup times, as all my commutes around town are under 8 miles.

Haven't driven it yet, but I doubt it will make much difference in warm up times with the new thermostat. I don't have that precise a measuring capability, but it will certainly make it better if only slightly. Better airflow will help as well possibly even more significant depending on the distance travelled.

I have a few places to go today and it's raining so the car will get 50 miles today.

Nice work! Both of them look great fellas.

Noticed any decreased drag from driving with the new block?

I noticed lean burn kicking in about mile earlier in my morning commute with the VX.

It'd be great if you could post some outside-air temperatures and coolant temperatures and rough warmup times with your 75% block. Do you have anything to monitor exact temperatures with?

I'm reluctant to do anything to the lower grille as I can't count on my wife to notice the temperature gauge climbing.

I'm Well it's 78F outside and when going to my BF's house I got warmer than normal, it hovered around 208 and spiked to 214 when climbing the hill to his house, without a grill block I never get over 206. My intake temps went up roughly 20F which is nice, I just need to open up a little bit of airflow on the drivers side of the grill, which is where the radiator is. I did notice an decrease in speed loss when coasting, it actually made quite a difference. I'm sure once I get my under-panels replaced it will go down even more. I need to make a quick disconnect system for the grill block, was thinking of using those press tabs (they are metal and look like an oval) so I can carry a full grill block and half of that. That way in the morning and it's freezing outside I can pop it on, then with the drive home when it's warmer, I can put on the half.

Not bad. Mine has a few of the same problems in similar temps once I have driven about 20+ min and everything has heat soaked. First warmish day(high 70s or low 80s?) it kicked on fans 6 or 8 times and saw ECT hit 212 twice. That was a longer drive, subsequent shorter drives at similar ambient temps saw nothing over 200.

And this morning ambient was in the 60s and on a 35 min drive I saw temps hit a high of 197*. Normal range is 186-190, sweet spot is 188*.
