I stumbled on hulu.com, a FOX/NBC joint venture to publish content online. From the demo I saw they are actually offering HD content. They upload the shows right after they air in Hawaii and are ad-supported.

They say it is U.S.-only but I'm going to see if we can find a way around that.

By the way - after scouring google for half an hour I finally found a beta-test that still has invites left: http://www.hulu.com/beta/dltv .
