LOL... Jeez.

I learned the hard way not to brag about vehicles and whatnot.

When I first got my 4x4 I bragged to my G.F. that it would never get stuck. She proceeded to bury it up to the axles on several occasions before I took it back.

I designed and built some wooden sawhorses and man, was I ever proud of my design! I gave a set to my Pa and told him they were INDESTRUCTIBLE, and he proceeds to set a BUILDING on them, and they failed. So I made a set special for him out of 2 x 10s but said they MIGHT break if he sets another building on them.

Build it more idiot proof, then find a better idiot.

I tell my dad that everything is "(adjective) within reason". It keeps him from testing the theory.

One time, I built a mechanic's workbench in an area still used as a loading bay by novice drivers. So I built it strong. As usual, plans changed, and the bench was sold a year later. The new owner came to pick it up, and after two or three hours, left with just the top. :-)

Frank Lee 03-15-2010 10:39 PM

Ferris never had a lesson either.

gone-ot 03-15-2010 10:46 PM

Ferris Bueller sounds so-o-o-o much better than Al-u-mini-um Bueller, and has a much better "magnetic" ring to it too (wink, wink).

Christ 03-15-2010 11:30 PM

Is Ferris Ferrous?

Frank Lee 03-15-2010 11:32 PM

No, Ferris is righteous!

MadisonMPG 03-30-2010 01:00 PM

I read this post when it first came up, and then I just reread it and laughed so freaking hard at the Boat/car/ferrous/Ferris.

gone-ot 03-30-2010 08:36 PM

...simple minds are easily amused.

Ferrous or Ferris? One would think that a local scrapyard would know the difference.

But they are nice guys, I've done quite a bit of business with them.

gone-ot 04-02-2010 08:45 PM

ferric, ferrous (adjective) -- of iron [from Latin ferrum, iron].

"Ferris Wheel" -- A large upright, rotating wheel having suspended cars in which passengers ride for amusement; designed for Chicago World's Fair in 1893 by American engineer, George W. G. Ferris.

rebelfluff 04-03-2010 02:30 PM

If you brag to much then a major amount of smug will be made and cause disastrous effects to the environment... (yes I just made a South Park reference)
