At what price would you buy a used Fisker Karma?

I was just watching the Doug Demuro video on the Fisker Karma. It certainly has it's downsides, but a quick search on CarGurus shows they can be had as low as $27k used now. With the production numbers and publicity seems like it's possible they end up collectible, and also seems possible there will be battery upgrades that could be installed at some point as well. I think it's really good looking but can't afford a $27k toy. Now if that price were to get into 2012 Volt high end price range, even thought the Volt is probably a better piece of machinery, I think I'd take a Karma at about $10,000 (although you can pick up a 2012 Volt for under $5k most are more like $8k).

What do you all think? will Karma prices hit $10k with under $2 gas and the fear of future problems?

ALso, funny this gets moved here. It's really not a hybrid. It's exactly the same as an I3 with range extender. The engine is just an onboard generator. I say it's an electric car as it only has electric drive.

If it breaks were do you get parts?

My $17,500 brand new Volt came with full warranty

While this is true, one might call the Accord Hybrid and 3rd gen Insight "EVs with range extenders" as well, because the engine only acts as a generator, with no direct connection to the wheels*. Only issue is, the battery in them is only ~1kwh, or good for maybe 3 miles without the engine running.

*Granted, above 60mph or so there's a clutch that can, in fact, send engine power to the wheels through a single speed reduction. However, the Versa Note Hybrid is essentially the same, a Leaf motor paired with a tiny ~1kwh battery and an engine which has no connection to the wheels.

Semantics, really. There are a lot of shades between EV and hybrid.

Not everyone can get that price, I am just going by what used ones cost. I agree the Volt is better utility and mechanical wise, just the Karma is beautiful and probably collectible. The Volt is not bad looking by any means, the Leaf on the other hand is just hideous.

I might get interested at $5k. With $10k, I would go for a Miata or 30% of a used Tesla.
