I drove this rig from California to Wisconsin in 1976. 1955 Ford with a badly worn 6 cylinder with 3 on the tree. It barely made it up the mountain grades in first gear. Worn king pins allowed maximum 50 MPH. Mileage for the trip varied between 8 and 10 MPG.

That's a BMW motorcycle in the bed of the truck.

I'll change my answer to driving in reverse from my grandparent's to my parent's house. I got -15 MPG.
