What would have been a good EcoModder April Fool's joke?

I tried to get Tim to post a thread to the effect of:

Honda's 3rd gen Insight plans revealed:

- an affordable, almost VW XL1 competitor
- aluminum construction with some crabon fliber
- 0.8L, mid engine (for best aero and most entertaining handling: "midship entertainment!")
- 0.21 Cd.
- Lithium pack
- 86 mpg combined (or something semi-believable)

With the recent demise of the 2nd gen Insight, it seemed plausible.

It's not too late, just start editing

When I was a kid, we had to obey the "no jokes past noon" rule on April Fool's. :(

News story: <Insert oil company here> buys out the ecomodder.com domain!

MetroMPG 04-01-2014 07:37 PM

HAHA! That's so funny. Good one.

I've actually seen a similar joke played on another forum.

Next year....

In my best Jimmy Buffet voice imitation: "...it's pre-noon, somewhere..."

UltArc 04-01-2014 09:49 PM

I was thinking something more like...

Darin trades his Metros for a dodge viper...

MetroMPG 04-01-2014 09:55 PM

Ooo... I'm writing all these down for next year.

Xist 04-01-2014 09:57 PM

I would have been sorely disappointed if I felt that Honda was redeeming its hybrid line only to realize that it was a joke.

MetroMPG 04-01-2014 10:19 PM

Yeah, that one made me a little bit sad after I wrote it. It could almost be true.

I get exactly the same feelings-of-disappointment after each presidential election: "...promises of GOOD, followed by actions of BAD..." (wink, wink)!

RedDevil 04-02-2014 09:35 AM

Honda will launch a 1.6 liter V6 hybrid engine next year.
It will not see the engine bay of a 3rd gen Insight, sad as that may be.
It will power F1 cars though.

I'm glad I don't have to worry about burning over 100 kg of fuel per hour... :)

Chevy Brings out new Suburban Hybrid Model. Promises 17 MPG Combined.

Oh wait.

brucey 04-02-2014 04:25 PM

Those stupid wing implosion spoiler things are proven to work with A-B-A testing.

Pretty much anything in the unicorn.

BMW fitting a 3-cylinder 1.5L turbocharged gasser into the 3-series, 5-series, X1 and X3. Maybe in a mid-term future it wouldn't be just a prank...

CAUTION (my warped sense of humor is showing) ! !

1) GM re-introduces their new 2015 HUMMER IV EV vehicle?

2) Ford re-introduces the Edsel?

3) GM re-introduces the Corvair?

4) American Motors Corp re-introduces the Gremlin?

5) Florida Voting Department suddenly discovering a long-lost cache of Presidential-ballot "chads."

6) The Ex-Lax Company merging with Hersey Chocolate?

7) NSA suddenly discovering the dreaded "Blue Screen of Death" on ALL of their Microsoft OS machines.

8) The U. S. Postal Service experimenting with flavored "lickable" postage stamps?

9) The Supreme Court Judges suddenly declare Obama's Affordable Care Act 'null-and-void' because they discover it APPLIES to them too!

10) Canadian scientists discover "Cold Fusion" is the REAL cause of 'Climate Change.'

Mustang Dave 04-02-2014 10:27 PM

I should have asked my friends if they would believe I traded in my Mustang for a Prius. :)

How about Microsoft experiencing the BSD on all of their machines and not knowing how to fix it?! :D
