What is X Gauge (on the ScanGauge II)?

Hi,

I suppose I could just read (decipher?) the manual, but I'm sure I'll get a better explanation from someone here:

What is X Gauge (on the ScanGauge II)?

Is it a way to save the settings and calibration for a vehicle?

Can we use one ScanGauge II on more than one vehicle, and not lose the settings and calibration for them?

The X Gauge is a way to add a "non stock" gauge to the display screen. EG. you can monitor ECU data that's specific to your vehicle (Prius drivers can monitor hybrid battery state of charge, for example), and you can use it to add "stock" SG gauges, such as adding "Trip AVG MPG" to the "Gauges" display so you can watch both instant and average at once. (I'm doing that in my car - I sometimes have trip, tank & instant MPG up at once.)

Hi,

Ah, I geddit -- I would love to have the average and the instant at the same time; that would be great.

So, on my second question: is there a way to save everything for one vehicle? If you unplug the gauge, do you lose all the settings and calibration?

I don't know of a way to save settings. But you don't lose them simply by unplugging the scangauge, they are all saved. You would have to manually change everything to lose your old settings, and if you do that I would suggest writing the old ones down.

As long as you let the SGII go into sleep mode, the data will be saved but writing down the adjustment factor, cutoff value or other details wouldn't be a bad idea either.

The XGauges I use are current trip avg FE and tank FE, but I use the former more because it helps give me the feedback on my driving along with the instant MPG. I keep the WT up because of my grill block and TPS for more pedal attunement for the "sweet spot" of +6 or 7.

Thanks guys -- I now have the average gas mileage displaying at the same time as the instantaneous mileage.
