What was your most succesful mod?
Would like to see who has had the most successful mods on an SUV or car but trucks are welcome are welcome as well. Would like to help pinpoint what will be the most influential to each vehicles efficiency first. Gives new members a better direction.

I will start this off with my least successful mod sadly. Penny pinching and switched to none LLR tires. Lost around 10% efficiency. I believe that correlates more so with my coasting distance.
Best mod by far was switch to copper plugs in my cruze. Was able to run down rpms much lower in top gear and upon discovering this increased my mpg by roughly 10% as well. So back where I started until i mod something else or get new LLR tires. Hope this gets people going. Would like to see where you were successful. I know there are points people have made 100 pages deep in probably not seeing. This site is one helluva information mine but sometimes you don't now the key word or don't have a hyperlink. Thanks happy ecomodding! |
Definitely the most successful (and fun) mod was the the 3-button shift knob on my Insights. It was a must-have for the G1 Insight owner!

Air dam. Closely follwed and maybe surpassed by power steering delete.

My most successful eco-mod to date is the lowering of my suspension... caused a very noticeable difference in coasting distance and on highway mileage... probably as much as 10% at 75-80mph...

UltraGauge.
That really helped make me more efficient. The grille block made the car itself more efficient, though. |
Hard to say what was best for FE but the one with the really obvious and welcome improvement was the grille block/engine compartment insulation combo. It was especially effective back when I had a daily commute: instant defroster and heater at the end of the day and of course not such a brutal cold start with all the evil that brings.
