wheel covers: corugated plastic or taped hubcaps?

my corrugated plastic wheel covers are causing problems. i took them off because the center of the wheel sticks out and the tight cable ties caused them to bend which looked weird after a while. now with slacker ties there is a gap between the covers and the wheel. this seems like bad for aero? taped budget hubcaps would be better i think?

Another option is to heat up the plastic and try to form it so it's "dished". You can shape coroplast to a certain extent if it's warmed carefully (it'll melt if you're not) with a paint stripper. Or maybe with a torch, held at a distance ? :)

I will be installing my 13 inch wheels soon.
I got some 13 inch hubcaps from the boneyard and I am going to try and cover them in aluminum flashing.

I've ended up taping my wheels with Gorilla Tape so far-the '93 Festiva has Axel Caps rather than Hubcaps, so I need serious curvature! Pizza pans just won't do the trick on this one...

When I have more time(and better weather) i'll try cut-n-gluing Coraplast into a Moon Cap just deep enough to clear the axel ends...until then, taping is cheap and effective.
