Wheel weight effect on fuel efficiency
 

Let's try to spare ourselves the general "explain and repeat" on how lighter wheels reduce fuel consumption in this thread.

A few assumptions to get out of the way:

We understand wheel weight adds resistance to the engine during acceleration and by a less significant factor while driving at a steady speed.

Energy losses are caused by wheel weight due to a small increase in rolling resistance, and the small difference in momentum during frequent acceleration and braking.

The potential weight reduction of wheels is pretty small relative to the weight of the vehicle.

Now how much does it affect fuel efficiency?
Can we try to get some progress on this question that has been filling so many minds for years?

Does anyone have measured test data or at least experience with fuel efficiency results after changing wheel weight?

On a bumpy road every bump will knock the wheel up.
If the wheel is heavy, that takes more energy than if it is light.
