Wheels That Fail (or W.T.F.)

That Velocity channel just had a segment of failures: Wheels That Fail. That orange Elio was one shown. HuH- did I miss something? Did that 3-wheel car really fail?

MPGeo 09-18-2016 01:24 AM

They haven't even produced them yet... and they are already programming the masses about it's failure??? wow.:(

Frank Lee 09-18-2016 01:55 AM

I'd say it was Moller, Aptera, and how many others that did the programming.

Ha.. you do have a point there. Don't forget about Lit Motors.

I wish TV programs would get thing right. An online article tells me the Elio is alive and well.
Elio Motors first drive - Business Insider
Now if Paul Elio sues Wheels That Fail maybe he could hurry up production with the money!

Hersbird 09-20-2016 11:37 AM

Well technically they have failed every goal, estimate, whatever you want to call it. Price, mileage, time, etc. I guess it does still have the promised 3 wheels and 2 seats.

Oh, and let's not leave the Dale off the list. 3 wheels, 2 seats, and a device to conceal one's penis on that "going to revolutionize" the auto industry car.

fusion210 09-20-2016 11:46 AM

I wrote Elio off a while ago. So yeah, that's a fail. How hard is it to make a three wheeler that skirts regulations a four wheel vehicle would have, with a kit car interior and engine based off of something in the 80s? How many years ago were these supposed to be out?

said they'd be released in late 2014.... then said in the first quarter of 2015, then late 2015. Then 2016 with no actual release date.. Now with 3 months left in the year, I'd suggest 2018 is a good estimate to when and if this car goes into production. And that's a BIG if

2018's a little optimistic.

gone-ot 09-23-2016 12:10 PM

...or, as Johnny Mathis might 'sing', the "Twelfth of Never"?

1948 Davis — 3 wheels, 4 seats!

Inside, a bench seat held four abreast, and the stylish, curved dash had an impressive complement of instrumentation. A removable hardtop could transform the car from a closed, weather-tight coupe into a roadster.

It was a contemporary of the Tucker and met a similar fate. Glen Gordon "Gary" Davis was convicted of fraud and grand larceny and spent two years on a "work farm".
