Ford Aspire Trans Swap and Lightweight Flywheel

Well, I started my transaxle swap tonight on the Xspire. I have a transmission with the Festiva guts installed into it (so I don't have to mess with modifying the Trans mounts) ready to go in. This gives me a final drive of 3.77 compared to the Aspire's stock4.05. I also purchased a used FMS Lightweight Flywheel (12lbs).

I was only planning on getting a head start tonight and pulling it tommorow, but it went easy.

Trans is out and the rest waits for tommorow...

Hopefully the clutch and flywheel go easy too!

I'll update.

Well, everything went smoothly! All done. Trans, new clutch and new to me flywheel installed.

Speedo reading is now off and I may have to take it to a local speedo shop to have an adapter made if I find that the Festiva driven gear has the same teeth as the Aspire's.

Runs and drives great! Definately pulling lower RPMs at speed. I'll post mpg results after I get the speedo/odometer accurate.

Out of the Garage and back into the Driveway!

Well, that was easy. I just saw this thread, and you're already finished.

Yes, please post back with numbers - RPM, MPG, whatever.

What happened to the updates? I'd like to know what kind of improvement was gotten from the gear swap.
