Revise Tacoma air flow test results

The Flow Illustrator website was briefly functional yesterday (it's been down with various errors as of late) and I used the opportunity to update my air flow tests for my 2003 Toyota Tacoma short bed truck to remove some noise from the slanted cap configuration and to add a new configuration: A cap that rises directly vertical 3 inches above the cab i.e. without a slant (or "wedge" in cap lingo). Best watched in 720p HD...

Thank you, Varu! As someone with a drawerful of sketches for an aerocap, I really appreciate some objective info. As a simple peasant, though, I'm concluding that a complex curved cap or a simpler slanted cap work about equally well. Yes?

I was just remarking to someone that if I build a cap I might as well go with a plain slant. But then it occurred to me that the air speed is pretty slow in all of my simulations. I had set Re to 100. So my next batch of tests will be with faster wind to see if I there's any significant difference in turbulence between curved and slanted.

The new results are the same as the old, leading me to believe I've reached the limits of what Flow Illustrator can do, alas.

One new bit of info however is that having no tailgate on at all seems to provide the least turbulence following the truck.
