Where to get water temp signal for grill blocking

I am looking at doing some grill blocking, and the GF offered to buy me gauges for Christmas. I need to mount a temp sender adapter for the gauge, and was wondering where to put it.

Between the thermostat and the radiator, or after the radiator?

You want to measure the coolant coming out of the engine block, wherever that is.

Id love to have a GF who would buy me gauges. :)

Anyway, the temp sender normally goes in the thermostat area, or somewhere in the engine a bit before the thermostat. You want to measure the coolant at the hottest place so you dont overheat.

You may be able to tee off one of your existing temperature senders or switches. Usually they are common NPT pipe sizes.

Ya, it:s a long story.

The temp sensor is a m14 P1.5, which I can only find at summitracing.com offered by autometer. The part is $14, and shipping would be an extra $10. Plus $10 for the T-fitting and the 1/8 NPT to m14 adapter. So, to make both the 1/8 NPT from the gauge, and the m14 from the stock sensor work, it would be about $35, or about $10 for the inline adapter and and $14 for a new hose when I take it out. But I guess if the GF is gonna pay for it, then it doesn:t really matter does it?

i would retap the existing sensor provision and replace it with something that is available, but I have older cars. Then again you only have to buy your parts once.
