Why do you always get a new problem just before a long trip?
 

This weekend I'm making a 1000+ mile round trip. And on the way in to work this morning, what do I get? Check Engine Light!

Fortunately the Ultragauge warns me of codes, tells me what they are and easily resets codes.
P1166.
Then reset it.
P1167 next.

Great... both of the codes letting me know that my primary O2 sensor is dead. I didn't need that $250 anyways...

Dude, your car picks up on your enthusiasm so it does an extensive systems check on itself in anticipation of this long road trip and finds a genuine problem and tells you about it.

A seriously well-trained car, and in return . . . ? :confused:

Much better to have problem before the trip than during. If it happens before you have more choices as to how to handle the situation and usually costs less to fix it.

Better than a blown rad hose in the middle of no mans land. You didn't need that gas money. Lol

Conveniently, it will cost you about the same amount as you've saved in fuel so far ...

Definately some truth in this.

Since I have a few days, I was able to search around and find the sensor I need for only $160 shipped and it will be here in two days. If the problem reared it's head during the trip, I wouldn't have been able to replace it and I'd pay the extra cost in fuel or by buying the part at a local store.

My car's ECU threw 3 CEL codes last week. It was the first time I saw a CEL in 11 years of ownership !

Need to check them out as they relate to the EVAP system.
