Wild thought related to engine management
I was thinking about engine management today, as I was planning out what to do about my Saturn. It occurred to me that if we wanted ultimate engine control, why not control each cylinder individually as part of the whole? Give each cylinder its own throttle, MAP sensor, ignition coil, and oxygen sensor, and everything could be precisely equalized. In theory, both power and economy could be maximized.

Individual pyros let pilots control mixture based on the hottest cylinder.

Oh, it’s way way too expensive for mass production. Imagine random normies complaining that a base Camry is $42K (but it’s got an oxygen sensor and pyrometer for each cylinder and gets 42mpg highway!)

Look at some parallel-twin motorcycles, with individual throttle bodies and even individual OČ sensors. If you're willing to go that far, it might not be much rocket-science to apply a similar setup to your engine.
