Window Blind's Grill Block

So there are now a few cars with active shutters for a grill block and was wondering if anyone had thought of doing the same but with a heavy duty window blind set up. Steel may bend so I was thinking about doing plastic. Living in Pittsburgh, (highs 95 degrees to 0) I was thinking this may be a viable project where the cooling capacity could be adjusted...highway closed blinds vs. open in traffic. Manual cockpit controlled. Just wanted to see if anyone had done this or heard of it. Thanks in advance.

Aerocivic has one.
He took 2 pieces of PVC tube.
one fits over the other.
then cut a slit half way through.
a cable rotates one in the other to open or close the front.

Here's a link to how the one on Chevy Cruze will work.

You could always use adjustable floor vents I'd think as well: LIKE THESE

They're just about the right size already and one would only need to run a manual cable or setup a solenoid to activate them.

And now the inevitable DIY goal of making it not look like a 1rst grader's art project.

In the 1970s, semi-trucks had shutters in Alberta Canada.

My father once brought home a approx 18"x18" scaled down model of the shutters being sold for large trucks. All aluminum, and very heavy duty. They were sold for the fronts of semis to provide better heat control and thus improved engine efficiency.

I'm back - I found them

BorgWarner makes truck shutters (look just like they did 30-40 yrs ago!)

Maybe it will give you some ideas!
