Windows up in town worth it?
I did some thinking, and I don't normally get stuck in stop and go traffic so I'm trying to decide if driving with windows up and AC off would make a noticeable difference in FE. Last couple tanks have only netted between 24-27 mpg city :(. My driving habits remained the same leading me to believe it is due to the shorter drive time since I moved. Before I moved I got 32-35 in town with same driving habits.
What are everyone's thoughts on having windows up in town? |
It does make a difference but its not the end of the world. You will see a much bigger hit on MPG at highway speeds. I put them down in town because it makes a bigger difference to hit all green lights or not stopping. ( If you can, stop signs are a *****.) Having the windows up or down only does a little at 30MPH. At highway speed It will shorten my coasting distance drastically and probably give me a big hit to FE. BUT if its 110*F and I don't have AC my windows will be down.
