Wiper area cover?

Ive been thinking of doing something like this for my Celeb, but Ive been wondering if would do harm or good and if anyone else has tried it before making one.

Basically it would be a smooth shell that would go over the front, top, and sides of the wipers. It would be open on the windshield side just enough to let the wipers in and out. It would replace the existing wiper cowl plate, bolting in using the same holes. I like to try to avoid permanent mods.

I wonder if it would do better, keeping the air off the wipers and arms. Or if it would do worse, creating a vacuum pocket and therefore turbulence.

Any thoughts?

I pulled my wiper arms off altogether and made a smooth coroplast cowl cover. It didn't make any difference in fe that I could tell. Then I reinstalled the driver's side wiper. In the rain, on my car, the drops behaved the same way on both sides of the windshield. That is, on the bottom 1/4-1/3 of the windshield, raindrops just sit there while they blow up and away on the rest of it. That tells me there is a stagnant bubble at the base of the windshield, just like the aero books told me there would be. So now my original wipers are back on.

Here's a thought. How about a false windshield made of lexan that extends from the front of the hood to the top of the windsheild which reduces the angle of attack for the slipstream easing it over the vehicle with less drag. Fill in the sides with lexan and make easy to remove for maint. Taken to extreams it could extend in front of the vehicle and the lights shoot through it and aero the whole front of the car in one operation.

Second though; Like a fering for a car like on a motorcycle. You could improve the aero of any car with an aftermarker add on.

I was thinking of that same kind of thing, except I was thinking about the back. Making some sort of fastback style boat tail that would attach to the bolt holes on the bottom of the metal bumper, and to the trunk lid with bike carrier style clips.
