Would a LeBra style grille block work?

I was just wondering if a car "bra" like you see, could be modified to act as a grille block. That would make it easy to install for the average modder.

Anything that effectively blocks air flow would work. A Victoria Secrets bra would work if you could find one the right size and shape. One that lifts and separates the airflow around the car. Maybe the plus size store.....

Are the grille holes already cut into the bra? If so, it won't work. If not, it's a great idea. Easy to remove and good looking.

My car's grille block is a home made "bra". You could modify a standard one by making flaps that cover the existing mesh holes.

I am currently using a bra for my grill block. My car came with the bra installed. I took off the part that went on the hood (it wasn't helping anything). The part that goes over the bumper/grill on my particular car had mesh over the air intake openings. I think this was helping me all allong. I added to that by using black duct tape and blocking off the air intake under the bumper (I tried the grill too, but that was too much). I also used black duct tape to block of the fog light holes (mine didn't come with any.

The nice thing is that the bra makes it Very easy to test things with duct tape, and it is completely unnoticable because it blends in with the bra. Once I have proven the benifits and that this is what I want to permanently do, I will try to sew or glue on some black vinyl so it is more permanent (but still unnoticable).

I will try to get some pics so I can post them.

Hi, Mr_C - welcome to the forum. Feel free to post a "hello" thread in the Intro forum if you like.

Here's my car's home made bra:

Thanks for starting this thread. I've wondered the same myself.

Cool stuff. I've wanted to do the same. For some reason, I've never seen your car's DIY bra. Must be the prude in me.

My main concern was ease of application and, yes I will admit it, vanity. It just looks nicer than what I currently have on there. I may buy the LeBra, ($69) and modify the lower air intakes (it's a Cavalier). You could even tape black coroplast in the air intakes and leave the upper one open for air flow.

That is partially why I still have my bra on. I can do duct tape mods for testing, and no one notices (right now my wife is driving the car and she doesn't care. I did take the top part of the bra off, which makes it look a little different, but not bad (IMHO). Once I have it right, I can easily sew or glue on some black vinyl that matches and have a nice block off that I can remove and the car is back to normal (oh, and my car already had a bra from the previous owner).

(I appologize for not having pics inline, I need to find a good place to host my pics that will allow a direct links to the pics)
