Would you use free Wi-Fi from a police station?
You got nothing to hide, right?
|
I have no problem with either of those situations...
|
Hundreds of cameras watching you wherever you go, satellites covering places where there are no cameras, public internet posts being checked, private e-mails legally scanned, and you worry about local police station wi-fi?
Come on. If you had anything to hide, it is too late anyway. If someone is after you, they probably already know. BTW: Who would spy on local police wifi station serving how many? two dozens of users? It would be wasted effort. The actual monitoring is done in large datacenters on providers side, big server farms with tausends of users. Just check it uses at least some ciphering (WPA2) so it is not completely open to any 12 year old would-be hacker and be good with it. |

If I happened to be in a police station, and needed to use WiFi for some reason - a very remote contingency, but theoretically possible. Otherwise. the only time I get closer than 10-20 miles from a police station is when I drive by on the freeway.
|
I try to keep my distance though, but not look like I'm tryin’ to keep my distance. I don’t know… drivin' casual.
|
I'd like free police for my wi-fi station.
|
I use a VPN if I'm using unsecured or public wifi. I usually don't bother on my home connection or secured family/friend's connections.

If I needed to establish an alibi.
VPN into a different jurisdiction, spoof the MAC address and probably a few other things, and leave a record of my "presence". |

"Where were you on the night of December 21st, 1992?"
"I stopped by the police station to use the free wifi! Check their records!" "Oh we did, and we saw your MAC address downloading cat gangsters." [you start to smile] "But we also found your MAC address connected to nine other police stations and you do not appear on any of the surveillance video." Is the police station air-conditioned? Do they have complimentary water in the waiting room? A place to plug in?
Hell yes I'd use their free wifi. |
It's sorta difficult to use a keyboard wearing hand-cuffs (wink, wink).
|
They have complimentary water, but you are not allowed to use the bathroom until you tell them what they want, and you will have to take your chances with them letting you plug in anything.
I imagine you can type well enough with your hands in cuffs--as long as they are in front of you. |
Yes, of course. I would use free wifi anywhere.
