Wtb:99-00 civic hx cvt harness

I have a project I would like to complete and I need this harness to get it done. If you guys find someone parting out a civic hx, has to be 99-00, please let me know. I really would like to follow through on my d15b 3 stage vtec.

Your doing a 3 stage with an auto?

tony_2018 02-14-2013 12:49 AM

I will but for now I will be running the the d16y5.

you can use a stock d16y8 engine harness. tie the vtec oil pressure switch into the 16v vtec wire and just run wires from the ecu to the 2nd vtec, egr valve, egr control solenoid and econo light. i have the ecu pin outs to do that if your interested!! let me know...

I have wiring diagram except for the econo light. Whats the pinout location for obd2b and how do I wire it? Does it output a negative or a positive signal from the ecu pin?

it's pin a30 for obd2a. pretty sure the ecu gives the light a ground!! this is how i did it.. I wired the econo light to my cruise control light.

- The green plug on the rear of the gauge cluster is for the cruise control.

- The yellowish tan wire on the green plug is constant power.Wire it to the battery or tap it into a 12v source.

- Then wire the red blue wire on the green plug to A30 on the ecu. This is the ecu triggered ground.

Well that doesn't help me much, you did read that I needed the 99-00 engine harness right?

yea..... good luck finding a pinout for obd2b!! i had to buy a obd2a ecu and buy a jumper harness to make it work on a 99-00 harness.. a p2j-j11 is 10 times harder to find then the p2j-003 i have...

Funny you say that because I actually have one, but I also have the d15b obd2b cvt ecu as well. Thats why I need that 99-00 hx cvt harness to make this work. Either way its a project mpg car, always ongoing. I'm not satisfied with the gas mileage I'm getting with the automatic 4speed. I'm not capable of lowering my revs while on the highway. I'm actually in the process of rebuilding a cvt and using the fully synthetic fluid for cvt from nippon Eneos.

an old thread I know, but I figured I'd reply to clear up a few things. The 99-00 civic HX is the ONLY platform that used an OBD2a harness. So the obd2b ecu of any kind will not mate on to that car. A complete obd2b harness from an ex would be the closest match.

You are correct BUT only if it was the standard 5spd 99-00 HX. Main reason why is because they decided to do an "all-in-one" design with the ecu. That was when they decided to upgraded the harness as well. From 96-98 the CVT model had a separate TCU to control the CVT. The 5spd harness remain obd2a through 99-00 I guess because they felt there would be no need for changes. I've done my research on the both manual and standard ecu's for the 99-00 and they are of different design. I've already found my harness and confirm exact pinouts for the egr control and egr valve to be the same for the obd2b pinouts for the d15b 3 stage vtec ecu and I'm running pretty darn good. For now I had to change it to a d16y7 ecu auto because the d16y8 ecu was throwing codes for the lock up solenoid, mismatch of tranny and ecu was confirmed to be the issue.

Thats's good to know. I'll have to remember that. Also interested in your quest for the 3-stage, so make sure you start a thread or link me to it if already done so.

tony_2018 09-07-2013 01:15 AM

Unfortunately........I got into a minor rear end accident. Because there is frame damage the insurance company might total it. The damages look like it might total more than the value of the civic.

Damn, sorry to hear that. Hopefully everyone is ok. I'd really like to see more positive posts on the 3-stage with people that actually do the research and put in the time to get it running right.

tony_2018 09-10-2013 10:07 PM

You should already know that all the info has been collected over at d-series.org. Come on man!!! We've been at it for so long. All of the wiring has been confirmed, Even have someone claim they were able to run a 5spd setup on the obd2a automatic ecu, just has revving issues but it still works.
