WTF is an Ecomodder?
I've never done a poll but I wanted to see how it's done.
The question is plucked at random from the Zeitgeist. Seriously. |
I don't see a poll.
I'm embarrassed to say how long into the internet age it took me to realize WTF wasn't just a silly way to say FTW (For The Win). It was probably 2005 or thereabouts. |
Try refreshing, it works at this time in this location in this browser.

Woo, I'm with the 100% majority so far! Consensus is everything! All those voting against the consensus shall be cast out into the darkness; shunned by all. The Science has spoken. ... I was tempted to start a poll with various answers listed, but the correct answer being "underwater basket weaving". |
You can make these things time out. I didn't exercise that option.
I'll come back and see how it's going, then I will select three options. To see how this works. |

I ticked [Other see comment].
Ecomodder gives me a refuge away from actual social media like Facebook and Reddit. |

For me it started out as a way to save money through modification to make a car more fuel efficient. Not modern cars are so efficient from factories that there aren't many modes that make economic sense.
Today it is more a place to talk about efficiency tech than to actually find ways to mod cars. EDIT: Looking at the poll results people are voting more than once. I guess that makes up for the poor poll choices. Ecomodding is all of the above and more. |

Edit: I excercised all the options, except a time limit. You can also see who voted for what. |

Why not make that part of the plan instead of trying to work it in after the fact. |

I laughed when people deserted MySpace for Fecesbook. I've been tempted by Twitter but haven't done more than lurk. Like the nine out of ten here. You realize, of course, I made the poll so you could vote for environmentalism. |
Things I disagree with are refuse. Things I agree with are The Science.
|
Oh and to rag on failed electric vehicle start ups and the failings of "renewable energy".
|
LOL, well for some folks.
I'd like to see "free" and "clean" renewable energy become the cheapest and least damaging source of electricity. My desire for that to become a reality does not mean I am now permitted to deny reality. Same goes for EVs. I've been excited for them the last 2 decades. My enthusiasm doesn't justify dismissing their shortcomings. Discussing the pros and cons of any technology certainly falls within the overall themes of an economic and ecology forum. |
I drive a leaf. I make it work.
The closest thing to clean energy on earth that we can build more of in most places now is nuclear. It uses the least amount of resources, uses the least land and emits the least CO2. Hydroelectric is great, but in the US we have run out of good places to build big hydro projects. |

But it's certainly not Ecomodder. Environmentalism only got two votes, one more than 'don't know, don't care' at one each. Even sgtlethargic didn't give it a vote. To the point, generating energy and feeding it to unsophisticated consumers is the road to ruination. For instance, thermal solar [is greater than] solar electric for resistance heating. Just ditching axial flux and radial flux for transverse flux in motor/generators would help. |
Another example: It is now possible to 3D print glass filters and couplers directly onto the ends of glass fibers.

You're going full circle now, because if we're to discuss environment, we must discuss it in context of which life inhabit that particular environment. Rising CO2 is a benefit to the entire Kingdom known as plants. That's good news considering most all biomass are plants. "The sum of all biomass on Earth is 550 gigatons of carbon, 450 of which is contained in plants." |
