It only takes 5 and a half minutes more to drive a hundred kilometers at 100 km/h vs. 110 km/h.

(OK, if you're driving all day, it adds up. But short trips? Relax!)

My morning run has plenty of rolling hills, but is overall almost 700 feet downhill. That means evening runs are almost 700 feet up so all else being equal, morning runs beat tank average nicely.

There's this one kid at work. I saw him coming up an on ramp in his big ol' SUV this morning and got ready to note mileage on my hand. He roared by me 2.1 miles later... because he's in a hurry to get to work. 2.5 miles after that I pulled into the parking lot at the same time as him and was opening up my area before he even got in the building.

Traffic and structural delays (lights, etc) generally won't let you sustain a higher speed. Since a higher top end isn't going to help you much if you can't sustain it, what matters is how much time you waste at the bottom end. If you don't screw around wasting time you don't "need" to do 80 when traffic won't let you sustain that speed long enough to help your time.

YKYAEM you have flexible hours and you decide to go to work a bit earlier to avoid traffic, so you can drive most of the trip @ 45 Mph, the speed you can drive in 5th gear.

There is Sooo many pages lol first one had me laughing enough. People riding my butt screwing up my roll stops is irritating. Everytime I think to my self there goes .5mpg for the trip average. Find myself shutting my car off before pulling onto county highways (55mph) to wait for a semi or SUV to come through to draft off of. I was asked how often I clean my rims because there is zero break dust on them. I lose other cars in corners when they ride my butt due to trying to maintain enough speed for 6th gear.

You just need an efficient browser. Pale Moon lets me have a total of ~3000 tabs open. An open tab is just a few KB, it's only crappy browsers like Chrome that load tabs in the background until they crash...
