Installed a gauge cluster that has a tachometer and a tripometer in it this week. Rolled mileage on it back to actual miles on engine. I've been driving car hard this week and have also had all 4 kids with me a few times. Car really struggles to accelerate with all five of us...feels like I'm towing a trailer! Also floored the gas pedal for the first time this tank trying to merge into freeway traffic...the vacuum gauge read zero..cringe!

This fill covers the distance between Linesville, PA where the spillway is, and Toledo, OH which is at Michigan's southern border. We took a different route home which I feel was a huge mistake MPG-wise, even though the scenery was nice. We followed Hog Belly Racing back to Michigan and found it impossible to match speeds with his XFi Metro due to the hilly terrain. When going up hills, he would pull away from me, and when on downward slopes, I would gain on him. It was the hills that really killed me though, as I lose precious speed very quickly on any upward grade. In order to maintain the speed limit and keep up, I had to use excessive throttle when going up hills, which is something I never do alone.

Having a problem with coolant temperature gauge reading cold the last two days. I suspected the thermostat might be stuck open, but replaced it with no success. Turning my attention to the coolant temperature sensor now. Since the sensor not only controls the gauge, but also gives readings to the computer, I figured it may have an effect on my mpg. I topped off the tank just prior to changing it, just in case. I was pleasantly surprised at my mileage for the last 175 miles because of the problem and also because my driving practices to and from work have been a little heavy footed. Will update this entry after I change the sensor today.

Pulled into driveway right at 147,000.0 exactly. I'm going to put the XFi camshaft that the owner of Delta Camshaft, Jon Bodwell, sent me yesterday. Just waiting for the G10 to cool down a little. I think I have established a pretty good base mpg for the stock cam at this point, and will be able to judge the mpg increase of the new cam fairly.
