2009-04-17 12.32 mi. 0.109 US gal 113.03 US 3.66 kWh - over 2 days, normal city driving. Shows again that partial discharges & full recharges are less energy efficient than full discharge/recharge cycles.
2009-04-15 19.64 mi. 0.152 US gal 129.21 US 5.11 kWh - over 3 days, including .75 kWh top-up in middle of one day. Normal city driving
2009-04-12 21.11 mi. 0.149 US gal 141.68 US 5 kWh - one day's use, cool weather, normal city driving
2009-04-11 14.31 mi. 0.136 US gal 105.22 US 4.57 kWh - first full cycle of 2009 after sitting all winter - cool weather (around 5C), normal city driving.
2008-11-07 20.97 mi. 0.153 US gal 137.06 US 5.14 kWh - note replaced batt #8 @ 7 km. Unusually "hard" driving (Perth St hill 2x, bad light timing, long high amp accels with following traffic).
2008-11-02 19.77 mi. 0.145 US gal 136.34 US 4.85 kWh - note also: DC DC converter in use past 2 charge cycles; half city, half hwy - cold batts; Perth St hill etc.
2008-10-31 27.1 mi. 0.201 US gal 134.83 US 6.75 kWh - "new" Hallowe'en battery pack installed: 1 day's use. Cold temps though (0 C), half "highway" (non stop) driving, half in-town errands.
2008-10-17 13.38 mi. 0.11 US gal 121.64 US 3.69 kWh - 1 day's use with old & 7 battery returned to the pack - much closer to #8 than the batt tried out since 4 Oct; backroad nonstop to license bureau.
2008-10-13 7.26 mi. 0.08 US gal 90.75 US 2.68 kWh - 3 days elapsed, "short fill" reveals the penalty of "fixed" charging losses applied to a small total distance traveled.
2008-10-11 12.85 mi. 0.111 US gal 115.77 US 3.71 kWh - 2 days driving, incl more than a few extended 3rd & 4th gear high amp accelerations
2008-10-10 9.32 mi. 0.096 US gal 97.08 US 3.21 kWh - over 3 days, all sub/urban, moderately efficient driving style; low eMPG owing to shorter distance before recharging - charging inefficiency spread over fewer km
2008-10-07 15.65 mi. 0.118 US gal 132.63 US 4.18 kWh - over 2 days, all sub/urban, moderately efficient driving style; last hill was able to go up in 2nd gear, just above 5.25v
2008-10-06 20.5 mi. 0.166 US gal 123.49 US 5.56 kWh - over 2 days, with ~1 kWh opportunity charge in the middle; all sub/urban driving, several runs were not very economy oriented; drained too low - last hill foot down & batts barely above 5.75v.
2008-10-04 14.11 mi. 0.114 US gal 123.77 US 3.82 kWh - 100% city driving over 2 days, with replacement battery added to the pack which wasn't equalized to the others.
2008-08-24 6.39 mi. 0.078 US gal 81.92 US 2.61 kWh - 100% city driving over 5 days.
2008-08-17 19.04 mi. 0.122 US gal 156.07 US 4.09 kWh - 75% higway run, < 70A. Lots of juice left at the end: still almost able to floor 2nd gear on last hill
2008-08-17 20.31 mi. 0.125 US gal 162.48 US 4.21 kWh - swapped out #7 - 75% highway loop, aiming for < 70A target
2008-08-16 16.71 mi. 0.113 US gal 147.88 US 3.80 kWh - after swapping out two of the weakest batts for the 2 best batts from the B pack (which turned out to be the 2 strongest batteries period). Moderately hyperwatted. Lots of snot left at the last hill - went up in 2nd gear floored, with all batts > 5.25v.
2008-08-16 14.58 mi. 0.099 US gal 147.27 US 3.33 kWh - hard-core suburban hyperwatting (low amp <70A accel; DWB); same exact distance of previous run, but had lots of juice left on last hill - full throttle in 1st gear & no batts in danger of falling below 5.25v. (3rd from bottom LED)
2008-08-15 14.51 mi. 0.13 US gal 111.62 US 4.37 kWh - "hard" non-stop high speed (50-60 km/h) driving @ between 100-150 amps; limped up the last hill feathering in 1st gear to keep weakest batt above 5.25v
2008-08-15 8.46 mi. 0.09 US gal 94 US 3.3 kWh - swapped in the A pack, wasn't fully charged, thus the lousy eMPG
2008-06-15 11.78 mi. 0.1 US gal 117.8 US 3.36 kWh - normal around town driving over the course of 5 days
2008-06-10 11.19 mi. 0.084 US gal 133.21 US 2.81 kWh - hwy 2 run, testing batteries with the LED monitor.
2008-06-09 11.65 mi. 0.085 US gal 137.06 US 2.84 kWh - rear brakes unstuck, similar driving to last charge. 20C. Happy batteries. One of the top 4 most efficient charge/drive cycles so far.
2008-06-08 9.99 mi. 0.097 US gal 102.99 US 3.24 kWh - driving over several days, rear brakes sticking! But NEW wheel bearing installed up front since last data.
2008-05-10 6.66 mi. 0.056 US gal 118.93 US 1.87 kWh, 18C
2008-05-10 9.32 mi. 0.068 US gal 137.06 US 2.29 kWh, 20C, same driving as previous.
2008-05-09 6.99 mi. 0.056 US gal 124.82 US 1.89 kWh, 12C, sub/urban driving only
2008-05-09 12.25 mi. 0.086 US gal 142.44 US 2.9 kWh, includes 1 short opportunity charge.
2008-05-09 9.52 mi. 0.071 US gal 134.08 US 2.37 kWh, 15C ambient, but batts warm.
2008-05-08 12.92 mi. 0.091 US gal 141.98 US 3.03 kWh, 14C ambient, but batt cases still warm to the touch from charging. Came up the west hill in 1st, foot on the floor above 5.25v, but below 5.45v - have swapped out 3 batts since 6 May, which is contributing to the increased efficiency.
2008-05-08 10.99 mi. 0.082 US gal 134.02 US 2.75 kWh, 18C ambient, batt cases were warm to the touch from charging. Came up the west hill in 2st, foot on the floor @ 5.45v.
2008-05-08 8.52 mi. 0.068 US gal 125.29 US 2.28 kWh, 17C, normal (conservative) sub/urban, plus "highway" run of about 9 km.
2008-05-07 17.64 mi. 0.144 US gal 122.5 US 4.82 kWh, 15C, this is Ivan's driving & mine later, 2 opportunity charges before the full recharge.
2008-05-07 8.32 mi. 0.066 US gal 126.06 US 2.2 kWh, 10C, another battery testing run, right off the charger, right back on again. Best efficiency so far!
2008-05-06 5.19 mi. 0.052 US gal 99.81 US 1.74 kWh, 8C, 'normal' driving style, weeding out weak batteries with the new LED bargraph.
2008-04-11 6.66 mi. 0.081 US gal 82.22 US 2.71 kWh, 10C, moderate driving + Last hill 2nd gear, no prob.
2008-04-10 7.99 mi. 0.078 US gal 102.44 US 2.63 kWh, 15C, under 5 hrs recharge, moderate driving + Last hill 2nd gear, no prob.
2008-04-09 8.26 mi. 0.076 US gal 108.68 US 2.54 kWh, 15C, easy driving + one hard accel up to 50. Last hill 2nd gear floored holding 5.3+v.
2008-04-08 9.19 mi. 0.083 US gal 110.72 US 2.8 kWh, 5 hrs recharge, 15C, easy driving over 2 days. Last hill 1st gear holding 5.5v.
2008-04-06 10.72 mi. 0.092 US gal 116.52 US 3.1 kWh, 12C, easy driving + a run to Crappy Tire and back (busier roads = higher speeds & higher amp accel). Feathered up the last hill in 1st gear around 5.4v
2008-04-02 7.39 mi. 0.072 US gal 102.64 US 2.41 kWh, avg. temp +3C, easy sub/urban driving.
2008-04-01 7.72 mi. 0.08 US gal 96.5 US 2.69 kWh, avg. temp +10C., quite hard sub/urban driving (several 0-50 kph runs), top speed run on HWY 2 on new 300A controller.
2008-03-27 5.59 mi. 0.066 US gal 84.7 US 2.23 kWh, avg. temp +3C., all sub/urban driving, didn't baby it - 5 km with 3 adults on board, went up Broad St hill.
2008-03-26 9.59 mi. 0.097 US gal 98.87 US 3.25 kWh, avg. temp +3C., all sub/urban driving, slower than avg. Last hill westbound had to feather it somewhat in 1st gear. Disappointed this one's not better - because warmer & slower.
2008-03-24 7.92 mi. 0.075 US gal 105.6 US 2.51 kWh, temps still around freezing, all sub/urban driving, didn't push it hard. And didn't draw it down nearly as far before recharging. Final hill (eastbound) I went up all the way up in 1st gear - around 5.3v with the pedal fully depressed (ie. didn't have to feather it).
2008-03-23 7.86 mi. 0.094 US gal 83.62 US 3.16 kWh - temps around freezing, +1C, all sub/urban driving, last hill home was a 1st gear crawl, feathering to keep batt above 5.25v. This cycle was spread over 4 days (more self discharge).
2008-03-19 9.05 mi. 0.093 US gal 97.31 US 3.12 kWh. Mostly "highway" (ie. non-stop) driving @ speeds in the 45-60 km/h range, 3rd & 4th gear. HWY 2 west, turned around just w. of Butternut Bay. Wet roads, 1 C. Charging time: 5.25 h.
2008-03-18 10.99 mi. 0.105 US gal 104.67 US 3.51 kWh - first time using the new Delta-Q 48v charger. Charging time: 5.5 hours! Woohoo!

Temps: 2C, ran to the waste xfer station & back, then downtown & back. Reasonably lucky traffic situations (preserving momentum at critical spots, DWB). But went too far - 1st gear crawl up last hill, had to DWL to keep it above 5.25v / batt.
2008-02-29 5.46 mi. 0.087 US gal 62.76 US 2.92 kWh. Another cold day & "early" recharging = poor overall efficiency.

Next day: drove 12.x km, had to feather in 1st gear for the last 2 km to keep the pack out of danger territory. Don't have energy data though because Ivan recharged it. Temps were around freezing. Looking forward to swapping packs again to see if there's a big difference between them.
2008-02-28 6.13 mi. 0.091 US gal 67.36 US 3.05 kWh. Relatively cold temps (-5 to -10). Car felt particularly sluggish (took the boys snowboarding after school).
2008-02-16 8.06 mi. 0.107 US gal 75.33 US 3.59 kWh - Cold weather driving (-10C) kills the range; drained the pack low & crawled the last block in 1st gear to keep voltage above 5.25 on the return to the house.
2008-02-12 6.1 mi. 0.086 US gal 70.93 US So much for efficiency increase from topping up battery water - they seem to take longer to reach full charge now. This was one of the colder days of the year that I've used the car... -15C. Batteries = brrr.
2008-02-02 7.59 mi. 0.096 US gal 79.06 US Water level was too low in some batts. This was probably the reason the pack wasn't getting up to full charge to shut off the charger. Perhaps efficiency will also increase now that I've topped them all up.
2008-01-29 8.79 mi. 0.115 US gal 76.43 US Charger didn't automatically shut off. I found one battery in the rear & one in the front where the charge voltage didn't come up enough to trip the finish timer. Need to swap out those two batteries.
2008-01-28 10.79 mi. 0.093 US gal 116.02 US Best drive/charge cycle yet. 180 watt hour/km or 289 watt hours / mile. About 2/3 was fairly typical sub/urban use, 1/3 was "highway" use (non-stop).
2008-01-15 8.39 mi. 0.078 US gal 107.56 US All sub/urban driving, and not all of it of the turtle acceleration variety. Several rather big 1st gear foot-to-the-floor hill climbs as well. Yet this is almost the best energy consumption for a drive/recharge cycle. Hmmm.
2007-12-26 11.25 mi. 0.104 US gal 108.17 US First "highway" trip (most of it); all driving done in one shot, a day an a half after recharging. Despite the high power draws and lack of coasting, the higher avg. speed more than compensated. Most efficient charge cycle yet.
2007-12-19 9.25 mi. 0.107 US gal 86.45 US More evidence that going further before charging = higher fuel economy. However, there were 5 days in this charge cycle (more days = lower fuel economy from battery self discharge @ 1-2% loss per day); recharge time was 16 hours on the 24v/10A (nominal) charger for 3.58 kWh
2007-12-14 9.85 mi. 0.104 US gal 94.71 US Seems to confirm that driving further between charges makes for lower total drive/cycle energy use. 3.5 kWh.
2007-12-12 31.43 mi. 0.498 US gal 63.11 US Cumulative stats for 6 charge cycles, Nov. 24 - Dec. 12. This is MPG (US) "equivalent" based on readings at the plug via kill-a-watt meter.

Conversions used:

- 3412 BTU per kWh
- 114,500 BTU per gallon (US)
