Fill date Distance Fill amount Price MPG Details
2009-11-08 412.2 mi. 9.387 US gal $2.83 43.91 US Getting pretty chilly out, air getting more dense. Drove back from Schenectady and around town. Girlfriend drove a bit, but no excuses. I see my FE starting to suffer. I notice that the full grill block is doing very well, and almost too well on the warmer days - wasn't paying attention and saw coolant temp rise to 216 on highway before turning on heat. I have a good feeling the full grill block will be effective in the dead of winter. Watchdog read 8.7Gal consumed, 46MPG. The watchdog OBDII connection has been coming loose occasionally, so its results are rightfully skewed.
2009-11-01 107.5 mi. 1.752 US gal $2.83 61.36 US AMEC Run fillup. Warmed car up just before run so that coolant temp was about 160 when I began. At the end the Watchdog reported 64MPG and 1.7 gal used.... It seems to have the fuel consumed right, but not the MPG...hmm. Not too bad though.
2009-11-01 329.7 mi. 7.038 US gal $2.83 46.85 US Changed oil & filter using 5w20 conventional. Added about 1/3pt of seafoam to oil. Noticed a small amount of uneven tread wear in the center of the tread on the rear tires. Added front air dam / tire deflectors for AMEC run IV. Around town a bit and then up to Fonda.

Watchdog reported 49MPG and 6.8 gal. Calibrated one more percent down.
2009-10-26 531.1 mi. 11.28 US gal $2.79 47.08 US To NYC and back and Syracuse and back. Seasonable temperatures. Bullydog displayed 48MPG, reduced calibration by another percent for -16%MPG. Hopefully this will be the last calibration. Acceleration has seemed slightly "chunky" lately so I decided to add 1/2pt seafoam to this fillup. Thought I felt results very soon after setting off from the gas station. Impact from adding seafoam will be reflected in next entr(ies). Plan to add seafoam to oil when I change it before the upcoming AMEC run.

Changed pump reading of 11.219 to 11.28 (1/2pt seafoam = .062gal)
2009-10-22 490.8 mi. 11.03 US gal $2.68 44.5 US A little bit warmer lately. Driving around town mostly. Bullydog said 48MPG - calibrated to -15% MPG display.

P.S. Used my father's Tundra to haul the XFi project to Liberty NY and got 18MPG R/T with trailer.
2009-10-13 520 mi. 11.3 US gal $2.47 46.02 US Getting pretty chilly out - has been freezing overnight and in the 50s every day. Probably going to block off entire grill - seeing intake temps of 100-115F - way lower than the car's happy zone. This trip was mostly to Mount Kisco NY and back - very circuitous. About 13 miles of it was actually balls-to-the-wall speeding. Haven't done this in quite some time. I NEEDED to get to a Home Depot before it closed. I didn't go WOT, but pretty darn close a few times. I would've consumed more gas had I not gotten to the Home Depot on time, as I would have to drive 80 miles RT to sleep and return to the job the next day. Lots of unpredictable hilly driving around the Bear Mtn Bridge alog with the chilly weather also caused this tank to suffer. The Watchdog said I did 48MPG for the tank and consumed 11 gallons. I still haven't installed the fuse plug for the watchdog, so the inaccuracy can be attributed to that and perhaps filling gas to the tippy top. Been 4,400 miles since last oil change.
2009-10-09 490.8 mi. 10.11 US gal $2.47 48.55 US During this tank I discovered that I was pretty dog gone low on oil. Bought some 5w-20 (I usually use 5w-30) and put in about a quart. Noticeably smoother than it had become in low end acceleration. Note to self: check oil more often. Most of this trip was to Voorhees NJ and back for work. No passenger, no heavy equipment. Watchdog said 46 tank MPG before leaving for this trip. I reset the MPG and after the trip it said 52, which would leave it around 49 had I left it count for the whole tank. Getting more accurate, and I'm getting better about turning the thing on before I start driving - still have yet to install special fuse plug.
2009-10-01 484.7 mi. 11.03 US gal $2.54 43.94 US Watchdog indicated 51 avg mpg. Calibrated again after this - Also realized that I need to hook up the fuse attachment to get it to act more like the SG when the ignition is turned off for a certain time - The watchdog will stay on and displaying even after taking the key out unless you flip the little switch on the OBDII plug off. This is annoying because it won't automagically turn on with the car, so I sometimes forget to turn it on before I get going and I lose accuracy in doing this.

This tank was mostly a roundtrip to Harrisburg with more heavy equipment & a passenger.
2009-09-25 129.4 mi. 2.808 US gal $2.53 46.08 US Short fill from Reading PA to Gibson PA. Wanted to test Watchdog's consumption on a short fill. The watchdog indicated 2.5 gallons of use vs. the 2.8 gallon fillup. It indicated an average 53MPG for the trip and general average (I reset everything before this test tank). Even if it were to have its fuel consumption reading correct, that's still about 15% over the real MPG (46). Will adjust accordingly.

For this leg home from Reading, the car was more stuffed than normal - jam packed with stuff including a really nice bicycle helmet I got in York for $13
2009-09-24 450.9 mi. 9.505 US gal $2.35 47.44 US Got the watchdog FW update working for the last part of this tank - working a lot better. The avg MPG was right on the money with the fillup. Still carting heavy stuff around.
2009-09-18 526 mi. 10.7 US gal $2.49 49.16 US Now I think I know how PaleMelanesian gets the mad mileage, yo. Most of this tank was spent on highway and in central NJ. All flat (like Texas). If you have a bubble of space around you, and especially if you drive at night, you can P&G to your heart's content. I got some really nice trips while on the less-traveled main roads in the heart of NJ's blueberry growing country. Even with the weight in the car I would get 50-60MPG trips of ~20mi.
2009-09-14 376.4 mi. 8.301 US gal $2.57 45.34 US HEAVY. Fooling around with brakes and hauling crap from pick-a-part. Had a full volume of encyclopedias in the trunk for a while.

SGII was off by .3gal on the fillup. calibrated accordingly and started to get numbers that looked a little friendly again. Hopefully it will fix itself.
2009-09-04 397.5 mi. 8.127 US gal $2.63 48.91 US Encountered far less traffic in philly area than usual. I think I got my scangauge calibrated correctly - the fillup read 8.1, and the MPG read 49.7 - SGII is 1mpg generous.
2009-08-31 428.4 mi. 9.19 US gal $2.67 46.62 US Another week with car filled with crap.
2009-08-26 494 mi. 10.13 US gal $2.61 48.77 US From end of AMEC run fillup to better part of work week in Philly area. Had reset scangauge and calibrated the fillup for the first time with this fillup. Lots of crap in the car.
2009-08-23 95.5 mi. 1.475 US gal $2.79 64.75 US AMEC Fuel Economy competition run. LOTS of awesome P&G opportunities. Definitely did better than I expected to. Added Moon discs for this, and everything after. Also changed oil before leaving for this competition.
2009-08-23 194.1 mi. 4.301 US gal $2.79 45.13 US Driving to AMEC run
2009-08-21 460.7 mi. 9.421 US gal $2.67 48.9 US From Quakertown PA (where I drove off without my car's stock gas cap and subsequently purchased a replacement) to home, then to the very middle of Pennsylvania, a half hour outside of Williamsport to bring Ben a tire to end his 6 hour Insight rim blowout party.

Then back to the trusty Flying J in Gibson PA to fill up.
It was good to drive without all the usual weight in the car from work.
2009-08-20 416.1 mi. 9.251 US gal $2.63 44.98 US Very hot uncomfortable week of driving around Philly area for work - Several altercations with nasty unavoidable city driving and rush hour highway traffic. I decided I don't like City Avenue /rt 1 in the philly area between 76 and 476. I think it is a bermuda triangle of awful traffic, bourge-y neighborhoods, strip malls, and boutiques.

Lots of heavy equipment in the car as well.
2009-08-17 417.6 mi. 8.815 US gal $2.67 47.37 US More driving for work. Filled up on the way to Philly for another week of work - Engine water temp was reaching 216F, so I moved the WAI away from the manifold and opened up the front grille exposure about +3 sq. in. This seemed to bring it back to something I was more comfortable with. It was acting a little more sluggish than usual before I did this. This tank was a big crazy mix of stuff. blah.
2009-08-07 419.4 mi. 8.333 US gal $2.59 50.33 US This tank was mostly hwy - to philly, roundabout for work, then back. Filled up at Sheetz in Clarks summit PA. Most likely E10, not sure - I think I remember Sheetz always having E10. 1 Passenger plus ladder and tools for work. I've been noticing that my speedo is reading too high, prob. about 5mph. Starting to adjust SGII to give me accurate tank MPG by accurately calibrating the speed using radar speed signs along the side of the highway.

Also began adding a bit of a belly pan, but in the back. There are HUGE gaping cavities under the rear bumper for air to hang out in, so I made a sheet metal pan for the drivers side rear before embarking on the week in Philly.
2009-08-01 527.5 mi. 10.97 US gal $2.74 48.09 US From Gibson PA to all around Philly for work with a passenger, my ladder, and a bunch of tools/supplies; Then back to Bing and to Ithaca w/ 2 passengers - thought I could make it there and back, but stopped in Spencer with a gallon left. This is the first time I've ever seen my fuel light come on, and it was evidently pretty accurate. More or less exactly a gallon left.

Notes: 476 is an awesome road, and I added some oil before this trip to philly - It was just at the bottom mark on dipstick. No prior evidence of leaking or burning.
2009-07-27 393.5 mi. 7.841 US gal $2.49 50.18 US Bought this fillup (reflected in the next entry) at the famous Flying J Shell in Gibson PA. "Could contain up to 10% Ethanol" I topped my oil off just before the end of this tank in preparation for a weeklong work trip to Philly - it wasgetting pretty low, which was surprising - I've never detected any oil leaking/burning with this car. Lots of around town driving to Endicott & parents house with this tank.
2009-07-20 471.4 mi. 9.181 US gal $2.45 51.35 US same as usual commute to farm, last part of tank took me to scranton and back. Filled up with e10 shell gas.
2009-07-09 543.1 mi. 10.53 US gal $2.68 51.58 US Got this tank paid for by my aunt, who I brought to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre airport. After the trip to Scranton and back, it was just regular commuting to the farm and back - lots of hill on the way there, lots of EOC on the way back. Always 1 passenger for this.
2009-06-27 506.8 mi. 9.694 US gal $2.55 52.28 US So it wasn't bogus gas - I think I screwed up the fillup % thing on the SGII. Filled up with 10% ethanol shell gas. Business as usual, one trip to Syracuse and back, a bunch of times carpooling with one other person to Stevens Point PA
2009-06-18 541.7 mi. 11.14 US gal $2.72 48.63 US Lots of carpooling again. Got relatively close to empty with this last tank (11.9 Gal tank capacity). After filling up this tank, I fiddled with the SGII resetting the tank or something I don't normally / always forget to do... I later noticed that the SGII was showing dramatically lower MPG. I suspected bad gas (It was "gas sale day" at the station I bought the gas from), but so far I'm 200+ miles into the next tank and it's at 3/4... so everything seems normal and drives normal aside from what the SGII shows. Time will tell. Also swapped front brake pads due to increased thumping in the right side... something has been causing slightly uneven pad wear since I got the car.
2009-06-18 541.7 mi. 11.14 US gal $2.72 48.63 US lot of carpooling(more than just me in the car) to and from steven's point pa. Lots of nice downhills, reciprocally nasty uphills. I'm satisfied with this tank. On a side note, on monday of this week I took my father's truck (stock '00 v6 tundra)& dolly to campbell, oh again to get the xfi. (18.5 mpg out by the pump, 17.5 back by the sgII.) Hopefully I can get it or something with its components working by the end of summer.
2009-06-05 557.5 mi. 10.64 US gal $2.55 52.4 US About 120mi of around town driving then to Campbell Ohio, then up to just outside of Erie PA. No drafting this time, just EOC when possible, always DWL. Speeding up a tad on downhills that don't warrant EOC, then sloowwwly reducing speed as I progress up inclines.

Filled up with Sheetz gas - 10% ethanol with some detergents/agents added to gas (???). Next fillup will reflect the use of this fuel.
2009-06-03 461.6 mi. 9.727 US gal $2.61 47.46 US meh. I was hoping to continue my 50+ streak, but honestly this gas pump was a little wonky, and I didn't fill it up like I normally do because it clicked way too early. Usually 4 clicks brings it pretty close to tippy top, but this time it didn't, so I filled a bit more to my intuition, so although my tank was filled to the brim better than it usually is, these results are still skewed and I like to think I'm keeping 50+ Trying to get a 50+ baseline and then test w/o the HAI to see if it then has an adverse effect on MPG.
2009-05-22 484.8 mi. 9.338 US gal $2.35 51.92 US Quite a bit of HWY driving - to Syracuse and back 2x, around town to vestal clients and back a few times, and to northern PA a couple times - I consistently got 50+ mpg on these trips where there are many rolling hills and plenty of EOC opportunity. I employed drafting for a good part of a trip back from syracuse when there was a terrible headwind - it seemed to work pretty well. I was about a car length behind the two trucks I used. It was a little scary, and I payed a LOT of attention. No mishaps. This one trip leg was the only time I used anything new during this tank(drafting). I'm really focusing on trying to get even better in urban driving - I'm getting there. I'm getting familiar with the behavior of a few more commonly traveled traffic lights.
2009-05-13 424.1 mi. 8.742 US gal $2.35 48.51 US This concluded the tank that started with the fillup after the fuel economy race, which was to one click of the gas pump. This entry reflects one click of the pump, which read 8.742g. I then proceeded to fill up to 4 clicks (this is usually pretty much to the brim). The pump then read 9.038, which would yield a fuel economy of 46.924MPG. I don't know quite what the more accurate calculation is, so the average of the two is 47.7 for the record.

This is still a dramatic increase in FE as a result of my recent modifications. I achieved a couple 50+ mpg 40 mile roundtrips to a farm in northern PA during this tank with a lot of P&G on rolling hills. Always DWL, slowing on uphills and slowly regaining speed using throttle on downhills before EOC. I opted to use the 3/4 grill block using SVOBoy's coroplast from the fuel economy race. Car feels slightly smoother going hwy speeds - the driver side mirror is still quite noisy.
2009-05-02 77.89 mi. 1.362 US gal $2.21 57.19 US This was my competition trip around Seneca lake for the Green Grand Prix.

Results were very friendly at the pump, gas was cold in the morning, filled up to one click, then drove around the lake, warmed up gas enough to expand, then again filled to one click. My SGII indicated 46MPG - which also may be inaccurate due to my recently installed WAI, which apparently may be increasing my FE without reflection on the SG, as it records air consumption, not fuel consumption. I'd be willing to believe I pulled the average of the two - 51.5MPG

Future fuel logs will give a better idea of the accuracy of my SGII's trip monitor.
2009-05-02 123.3 mi. 2.304 US gal $2.21 53.52 US Trip from home to Watkins Glen for the Green Grand Prix. Pretty much all hwy driving, westward on 17. Probably some headwind. Trip occurred in early evening, typical spring temperatures.
Mostly light throttle on hwy, DWL.

Had to fill only to first click for FE competition, so this result is off, as I always fill up to about 4 clicks.

edit: used the 5/13 entry to extrapolate the fuel difference between one pump click and 4, which is 0.296g.

This fuel log entry originally read 61.4MPG before I added more "fuel used" to compensate for the normally occurring "pump clicks" missing in this fillup.
2009-04-30 444.1 mi. 10.35 US gal $2.12 42.91 US During this tank:
Added WAI
Replaced Tranny fluid with Pennzoil synchromesh
Changed oil while I was at it
(189783)
Added magnetic drain plug (I know it doesn't do much, but I needed a new plug anyway)
Added wheel skirts
Added partial lower grill block

Saw SGII crack 50MPG far more often on hwy driving. hovered around 46mpg.
2009-04-13 426 mi. 10.25 US gal $2.09 41.56 US Nothing too special here, a bit of highway driving at beginning of tank (to Syracuse and back) and a bunch of city EOC. I've been getting pretty adept at local traffic light detection and prediction.

Weather has been getting warmer (50s and 60s).

Impulsively added injector cleaner at the beginning of the next tank - use will be reflected in next log entry.
2009-03-31 347.2 mi. 8.168 US gal $2.07 42.51 US Added summer tires at the end of this tank - next tank will reflect use of smoother tires.

This tank was mostly around town, city driving. Lots of P&G. It's been a bit warmer.
2009-03-09 465.6 mi. 11.13 US gal $2.05 41.83 US Huge tour of upstate NY for work.
Binghamton>Utica>Syracuse>Rochester>Around Rochester>Horseheads>Binghamton.

Tank was pretty low towards the end, but I was determined to make it back, and did.

A great deal of the trip (up until rochester) was in nasty cold rain. Even with rain, it felt like my brake "fix" was working against me. I slammed the brakes a few times when I could to see if that improved it, but by the time the rain went away, the mileage was more characteristic.

My eyes were glued to the SGII for this trip and I noticed a few things:
-My final MPG was very different from the mpg I saw most commonly displayed (35MPG)
-Going fast (normal people speed) didn't seem to change my mileage. I had to rush from Rochester to Horseheads (120mi) and I did about 65-73. This didn't change what the SGII read: When I drove 55, the MPG readout bounced around the 30s, and was in the lower 20s when I accelerated) The road/sky was dry for this leg of the trip.
-Doing an "Engine ON coast" seemed to work well when I was going about 70 - I would SLOWLY decrease my speed from 70 to about 60, then more quickly accelerate back to 70 (I tried to make this happen on downhills) and repeat.

I NEED AEROMODS and I want a DX instead of my dumb torquey EX
2009-03-09 363.7 mi. 8.917 US gal $2.05 40.79 US Oil changed (@188100)- next tank will reflect this.
Also "fixed" brakes. Brakes have been braking unevenly and making a brushing sound when not engaged for a while. I cleaned off the rusty rotors, that turned out to be in not that bad shape, and used a grinder to clean up the edges of the brake pads so they moved more smoothly in the brackets. This seemed to work, and stopped the scraping sound.

This tank was mostly city. Airflow in hwy driving feels like molasses.
2009-02-26 380.5 mi. 10.2 US gal $1.99 37.3 US started employing eoc heavily. Seemed to be very effective in city, but i can feel the drag on the hwy. Time to reduce Cd.

I installed a plexiglass upper grill block at the end of this tank, so the next tank will reflect its impact... Although the eoc will likely hide that impact, as i havent employed that method so heavily until now.
2009-02-05 348.8 mi. 9.875 US gal $1.92 35.32 US It's been extremely cold lately - have been warming up car for a little bit at times (~5 mins). Half of this trip was moving stuff to new apt, and all hwy for the other half (to cortland and back 2x) My muffler broke a couple of tanks ago, so I sound like a high school kid proud of his new $300 fart pipe.
2009-01-25 305.8 mi. 10.73 US gal $1.87 28.5 US BLAH - This tank of gas sat around for a long time while I was on holiday in Europe, then it was used as a packhorse for moving stuff from my old apartment to my new apartment.
2008-12-18 377.2 mi. 10.5 US gal $1.75 35.92 US blah
2008-12-13 198.3 mi. 6.437 US gal $1.82 30.81 US blah
2008-12-03 366.3 mi. 10.05 US gal $1.97 36.45 US changed to winter tires during this tank
Its getting pretty chilly up here.
I wont be traveling nearly as much for a while.

Filled up with 10% ethanol gas
2008-11-20 383.4 mi. 9.032 US gal $2.15 42.45 US To White Plains, Stamford CT, Garden City NY, Harlem, NYU.

Then my car (and my car only) got its best 3mi trip ever: NO GAS WHATSOEVER.

Here's how I did it:
Step 1: Park at 64 w 3rd st nyc.
Step 2: NYPD moves car for you to 511 12th av nyc

This however yielded the cars worst distance/$ ratio, costing about $98/mi. Bulldozers eat your heart out.

Lots of stopping ang going obviously from going to Long Island (horrible, horrible place - probably worse than LA to drive in) and driving into and out of manhattan.

This tank ended at a gas station in E.Stroudsburg PA where the gas is 10% Ethanol:

***the next tank will reflect the use of this gas.***
2008-11-18 281.7 mi. 7.213 US gal $2.21 39.05 US It's been frickin' freezing out
2008-11-11 387.4 mi. 9.929 US gal $2.46 39.02 US Much colder than usual outside. To Jamestown NY, roundabout that area in slightly snowy conditions. Stopped by the police on the way there for driving too slow on the highway (50 in a 65, which the lower limit is 40 or 45, so that didn't hold any water) and "swerving in lane". "Swerving in lane" would mean that I was staying in my lane. lol - I didn't get any tickets, but they accused me of driving under the influence of something, and the only thing I could do to change their mind was to let them search my car. Only then did they change their mind. Ridiculous waste of time.

I think the colder weather is affecting my mileage, but I also have a lot of heavy equipment on these big long trips for work. I also ran my heater for this tank and the next tank.
2008-11-09 366.3 mi. 8.066 US gal $2.54 45.41 US Bummin' round town.
2008-11-06 377.7 mi. 9.601 US gal $2.23 39.34 US This reflects the result of my oil being topped off with normal driving techniques. I've been a bit lazy lately with trying anything novel, especially with my SGII in the car.
2008-11-03 188.5 mi. 3.65 US gal $2.69 51.64 US This trip reflects the use of 10% ethanol gas.

Added a little bit of oil - may reflect a difference for the NEXT entry, ergo the new oil wasn't introduced to the car that produced 51mpg on this trip.
2008-11-01 446.3 mi. 10.77 US gal $2.69 41.44 US Filled up tank with 10% ethanol gas - I've noticed a tendency for my mileage to improve when the pump said "Gas contains 10% Ethanol". See next entry for result.
2008-10-26 408.6 mi. 9.985 US gal $2.99 40.92 US I let my girlfriend drive :P
2008-10-16 434.7 mi. 10.04 US gal $2.98 43.3 US Oneida -> Tully -> Herkimer -> Oswego -> Tully -> Utica -> Oneida.

Mostly highway, lot o crap in the car.

Not as focused as usual on hypermiling.
2008-10-14 389.4 mi. 9.016 US gal $2.98 43.19 US Working in Syracuse area. Lots of stopping and going, and lots of stuff in the car.

Not as focused as usual on hypermiling.
2008-10-10 407.8 mi. 9.311 US gal $3.13 43.8 US Working in Syracuse area. Lots of stopping and going, and lots of stuff in the car.

Not as focused as usual on hypermiling.
2008-10-05 451.6 mi. 10.18 US gal $3.64 44.36 US First tank with SGII. Used it a bit, and had a couple of lightbulbs over my head. Didn't get the chance to REALLY get into it and understand every single feature on it, but I have some new techniques based on what I saw on the gauge that I can't wait to try.

About 3/4 HWY, the rest being rural highway with lots and lots of hills. A few dirt roads were involved too.
Another factor I can think of is that all of this driving occurred in colder than normal weather.

From Gibson PA to parents house, then home. Horseheads and back, then to Auburn to Syacuse to Tully to Trumansburg, around Ithaca a little.

Note - going to employ greater extremes when driving: faster down hills and conserving that momentum for longer, then going up hills with as much momentum as possible, and ultimately going slower up hills than normal. Also want to try some alternator circuitry mods...
2008-10-02 309.4 mi. 7.2 US gal $3.31 42.97 US This trip was used to go across jersey a couple times, then from Bellmawr NJ to Gibson PA, via Clifton NJ. The drive from Bellmawr to Clifton was BRUTAL. Probably not bad for a normal driver, but a nightmare for a hypermiler. Traffice lights EVERYWHERE, people not understanding why I was slowing down so far from red lights. This would've been a challenging drive even for an expert hypermiler. I got the timing right sometimes to save my momentum, but so many lights made it hard to judge sometimes. It seemed like I encountered a lot of stop and go. Awful. To hell with jughandles too.
2008-10-01 448.6 mi. 9.17 US gal $3.19 48.92 US This fillup was in NJ where it is illegal to pump your own gas, so this reading may not be entirely accurate, as when I fill up, I do a couple of clicks on the gas pump AFTER the first click. The gas attendant here removed the pump after the first click, and the station was too busy/ I was too much in a hurry to ask him to do a couple more clicks.

New Jersey gas is CHEAP

Most of the driving done in this tank was HWY.

NO EOC employed, only a wee bit of P & G.
2008-09-28 448 mi. 10.33 US gal $3.45 43.37 US To Rochester, around a bit in Rochester, then back via Watkins Glen, then down to Phila. area of NJ, and a bit of driving around in NJ. I hate jug handles. Reasonably smooth ride (except non hwy roads in NJ), no new novel attempts, but a lot of trying to get the timing right on red lights that riddle the roads of NJ. Did pretty well with that.
2008-09-26 350.2 mi. 7.66 US gal $3.62 45.72 US ***Lucas fuel injector cleaner was in the tank during this trip.***

From Allentown to home, then to wilkes-barre, around wilkes barre a bit (HORRIBLE city driving - worst traffic light configuration I've ever seen - they are EVEYWHERE and not radar driven.) then back to binghamton.

55mph

smooth rolling hills in Norhteastern PA, EOC only a couple times on HWY, otherwise nothing really special.
2008-09-23 198.8 mi. 3.941 US gal $3.53 50.44 US Drove to allentown, stroudsburg, then allentown again. Filled up because I realized I forgot to put in some inj. cleaner.

Next tank will indicate effect of inj. cleaner.

Drove about 55 for this entire trip... moderately hilly. Very sunny day, pretty hot in the car.

I really couldn't say why FE was so good on this trip. I will note that I only used the radio, and sometimes my GPS - didn't use mp3 player with FM transmitter.

Didn't do anything particularly special.
2008-09-23 506.6 mi. 12.38 US gal $3.59 40.92 US Actually ran out of gas in a parking lot, and added about 1.3 gallons to this tank.

Very mixed driving

***This is not an entirely accurate log entry because in addition to running out of fuel and filling with an inexact amount of fuel from jerry can, I forgot to reset the trip ODO (although I did just subtract the last entry from the ODO reading)
2008-09-11 458.7 mi. 10.76 US gal $3.59 42.63 US Payed very close attention to FE this trip:

-Inflated tires to 60psi right before this trip

-mostly highway at 60mph

-all city driving was done with very little stopping at lights - managed to roll slowly until green light on majority of lights.

-not much P&G, maybe a couple times

-only a couple EOC

-Engine off at the couple lights I was caught at

To Rochester via highways, back via Ithaca on rural highways - some speed zones, but overall not too much stopping.

Going to bring back down to 55mph again on next highway trip to see if FE increases.
2008-09-08 467.3 mi. 10.59 US gal $3.59 44.13 US About half highway, half hilly country routes - To Syracuse,Skaneateles, back, Syracuse again, Ithaca, back.
2008-09-01 335 mi. 7.838 US gal $3.63 42.74 US Old Forge & Back, Syracuse & Back. Didn't get the chance to try anything new, pretty busy. Standard driving (little bits of EOC, P&G, off at lights, low RPM shifting) mostly highway.
2008-08-28 400.1 mi. 9.684 US gal $3.64 41.32 US Back from Newburgh, some city, to Syracuse and back, some more city. Passenger on the way back from newburgh. Very mixed driving.
2008-08-20 427.9 mi. 10.2 US gal $3.79 41.95 US Mostly highway, with passenger. From binghamton to hudson valley area (scarsdale-newburgh-peeskill-newburgh-harriman-newburgh-home). Many back roads (hilly, winding, stop signs/lights).
2008-08-18 419.4 mi. 9.947 US gal $3.69 42.16 US First full tank on the civic. Happy with results.

-To Rochester and back, mostly city, no passengers.
-city driving never too far above 2k RPMs
-A little bit of power-off coasting employed.

*Note to self - changed oil before this first tank @ 176119
