Green Grand Prix on the track at Watkins Glen, NY USA. 45mph average speed, 90% tuck laying on tank bag, three hour event, with full on Pulse And Glide and Engine Off Coasting. Probably posted the best actual fuel economy of all the vehicles competing but won't get credit for it as the vehicles without built in computers were required to calculate the fuel usage by the total weight lost using scales. This was totally inaccurate. I did my own tank fill in town before and after to get the real numbers.

Slow down to save fuel. My numbers go up another 5-10% when I reduce my speed from 68 mph to 50 mph. Of course you have to keep up with the average of traffic but on the deserted back country roads the speed limits are only 55 mph and most people drive 50 mph where I am as it is still busy with driveways and dogs. First tank ever while playing with full on Pulse and Glide. Very cold both mornings at 25F. I put the grip muffs back on the second morning after getting dangerously cold fingers the first. So one leg of four had the extra drag of the mitts. And the cold air robs some heat energy from the combustion. I should get better with warmer weather. Full on PnG only added 10%? A little disappointing. I must need to fine tune the throttle opening that I am using to find the best trade off between power vs. fuel consumption. I thought PnG would do more.

Near perfect run in the morning but cool at 45F. 64 mph. One abrupt stop light.
Hit every red light on the way home but clear and hot at 85F. 63 mph. Second tank on Mobil 1 4T 10W40 and both were back to back 90mpg (the slow sport tour) which pretty much eliminates any conjecture about fill inaccuracies acounting for the high numbers. Is Mobil 1 good for a 4% increase?

Using an additional 1.5% milage as was previously determined by highway markers at 20, 30, and 100 mile on a trip, the 79.8 corrected (78.6 on odo) still seems short. All of the cars I have driven over the same commute never show less that 80 miles
