New problem: Looks like a wheel bearing is failing, and the same wheel has brake drag too it feels. Odd that the fuel economy is better, but that might be the O2 sensor?

Have been aiming to stay in closed loop for pulsing, and neutral for gliding.
This means that I try and maintain around 5inHg vacuum and aim to keep RPM at right level (1500 or so before it goes into closed loop), then once at or over speed, let it glide until at or 10km below.
Rinse and repeat.

Traffic - not too much traffic. Relatively OK, some night runs though, so headlights had to come on.
Have noticed the fan was kicking back in on two occassions, so the cable looks like it's getting loose or similar on the fan controller.
Wish to add fan status light.

Belt Squeal appears sorted after adjusting both belts (backed off the power steering/AC one, and retightened alternator).
Oil change was done. Strangely, the engine stops jumping around on startup.
Air pressure in tyres was topped up.

About 1/2 way in, the air intake - I removed the bonnet to airbox link (would be drawing in cooler air and stops some noise).
Air box still is restrictive though.

Travel - some traffic, not a lot - but definitely some stop / start traffic.

Still running 98 RON.

Oil change - this was Nulon 10W30 (previous oil was Magnatec 10W40).

I did fill up the tyres back to 44psi (they were down to 32psi).
I also stopped flooring it in my pulse and glides and have been trying to stay in the power band (instead of flooring in 5th gear at 1100RPM or so).
The traffic has been good, some days it's been slow but I've tried to keep rolling instead of finding myself in stop / start.

I've still got a rough idle on start up at the moment, it rattles a bit and then comes good. Timing should be checked to make sure it's not off.

Fans fixed - haven't been running, 98 RON fills.
Reset ECU at the end of the tank in case that was some of the cause (so that it reset it's base idle).

There was some slow traffic from work in these kms too, so maybe better economy next tank (with some more foot improvement too)

This was a half way tank fill after all the testing in getting the fan controller correct.
Fan controller replaced with my own arduino based controller and the fans are rarely needed (I have to idle to get them to come on!).

The next tank should in theory have the best lot of ks if the fans have been the cause of bad fuel consumption for the previous tanks... In theory. Here's hoping.

Filled up again with 98 RON, fan controller still misbehaving. Plans proceeding to rip it out.
Work ks for this tank, some traffic...

Figured fans running when they aren't supposed to be. Designing control circuit to replace the previous fan controller.

RPMs were dipping as well (poor idle) during most of this tank. At the end it appeared to have stopped. I think the ECU adjusted and so is going to use more fuel (so whatever it's correcting for is not fixed yet).

98 RON - stopped pulse and gliding to increase flow over radiator.
Temps were mostly lower but the fuel economy suffered.

The fans appeared to be running anyway with flow over the radiator

On the positive note I successfully connected to the car's ECU, and can now probe it for data, however the car still has an issue with idle / stalling when stopping for a light some times.

98 RON, crap traffic for many days.
Poor fuel economy.
Fans still run continuous - I wonder if it's the coolant or sensor or radiator? Xmas coming up if time I might clean out the radiator if it needs it.

I think the sensor is a possible issue but need the temperature to verify. Or the thermostat. Who knows.. Poor fuel economy though!

Rough start ups still continue for first start of morning.

It was regular work running with some traffic.
I think there's a cooling issue - the fans running when they need not.
Also in the mornings it's being rough to start - might be a problem.
98RON fill.

Caltex 98 Ron (so the k's were BP Ultimate)
Better, not great.
Two early morning starts, a slow trip or two home...
Improvement would only be tyre inflation and alternator belt stopped squeal on start iup (tightened it up).

Shocking fuel economy. I did a heap of P&G (was more careful to make sure I was).

Different servo this time (BP).
Filled with BP Ultimate 98.
Fixed - Alternator belt was squealling, tightened up - now no noise.
Fixed - Tyre pressures were down - Front was 29, Rears 27. Upped em all to 40 (but Max sidewall says 51 - room to spare!)

Fan - I think this might still have something to tell me, the radiator fans run on after I stop - I'm not sure if they are running whilst I'm at speed (which would suggest a thermal efficiency problem). I need more info on this - but also hope fuel economy improves.

A sydney trip as well. Mixture of traffic.
Currently contemplating mudguard removal, inflate tyres and also the steering wheel isn't centered.
Also towed a trailer in this tank too..

First tank in new car. Had just been serviced after timing belt replaced (spark plugs, filters, oil, coolant).
Not a nice result, was hoping for better (given my history with the Pulsar).
Perhaps the traffic from work again.
