Cool 1993 Honda Del Sol conversion

Hi there,

My name is Jamie Hobson and my friend Ian Hillier and I are converting a 1993 Honda Del Sol to electric using components from a Clark EV1 forklift.

We're 19 years old and currently mechanical engineering students at Conestoga college. The goal is to get the del sol running and then get proper funding from somewhere to convert a car to outperform its gasoline counterpart.

We've been keeping a fairly comprehensive blog of our progress at The Electric Del Sol Conversion Blog

We took it for the first test drive last friday, got it to about 50km/h on half the battery pack (36V). Note to self: plug vacuum booster in.

Any comments or ideas would be appreciated, but the project is almost done!

Good luck with the project, definitely good stuff you got going there. The del slow is a nice little ride.

Very nice. What current plans do you have for a battery pack? Estimated voltage you'll be running?

Nice work with commendable documentation. Good luck with those batteries. Remember to watch for municipal and government surplus and seizure auctions. You never know what may turn up.
