94 Civic VX in MN FS or FT

It's come time for me to sell my VX, my kids are getting big enough that it's becoming a pain (literally, bumping their heads) getting into my VX. This means I'll be open to trades as well as someone buying the car outright, but I've got my mind set on exactly what I want for a trade: 97-03 Subaru Impreza Wagon or Sedan, Manual Transmission, only.

Location: Andover, MN
Contact Info: Post here, PM, or email car-pal-tomo @ gmail.com (no hyphens or spaces)
Price: $1800 OBO or trade for 1997-03 Subaru Impreza sedan, or wagon, Manual only

About the car:
The good...
I bought this car in June of 2006, gave it a tuneup and going over, replaced the timing belt, water pump, and brakes all around. Replaced the LAF (O2/Oxygen sensor in late 2007)
Rebuilt (Valve stem seals, piston rings, main bearings, all gaskets, timing belt, water pump) and installed another D15Z1 motor on 5-10-2009, now has just over 50K miles on it and doesn't burn a drop of oil or leak any fluids.
It has a K&N OEM style filter installed in OEM airbox
PCV valve relocated to intake manifold in order to change/inspect it easily
PCV filter from valve cover to intake tube
Catch Can installed to help keep intake manifold cleaner, longer
Newer tires on the front, just installed Oct. 2012 rears still have ~80% tread left
New Monroe rear shocks installed in 2009, fronts installed at the same time but used
All suspension bushings were replaced front and rear within the last 5 years
Will come with two front bumpers: (Winter/Aero bumper, and the Summer OEM looking bumper with OEM Fog Lights and aftermarket chin spoiler)
Has OEM front and rear swaybars (rear sway bar modified for Heim joint links)
Del Sol seats installed and in decent shape
Volts, Vacuum, and Electric Water Temp gauges installed in center console from a 96+ Civic and graphted to teh OEM center console
Carbon Fiber OEM style hood (with hood pins) for weight reduction
OEM flywheel turned down from 15lbs to 12lbs.
Mishimoto Radiator (all aluminum) installed ~3 years ago
New clutch installed at the same time as the rebuilt motor
New driveshafts installed the same time as the rebuilt motor
New front wheel bearings ~5 years ago
New front upper control arms ~5 years ago
HID Projectors (aimed properly)

The Bad...
There is rust on the rear quarters
I had replaced the rear quarter panels about 7 years ago, but the rust has formed again.
Some squeeks (it is a nearly 19 year old car)
Slight warping in the rear brakes (not really noticable and could be turned out on a lathe or replace the drums)
Cracks in the windshield
Winter/Aero shot:

Summer Shot:

Left Side:

Right Side:

I will miss this car, but need something a little bigger, but still useful. I would prefer a trade for a 97-03 Subaru Impreza wagon or sedan, manual trans only, but can sell the car outright.

Sad to see you are selling your VX . You are truly a wealth of knowledge on these cars. I hope you will continue to support the VX community and your website www.civicvx.com

I really appreciate all the time and work you have spent documenting and troubleshooting these vehicles.

All the best with your sale.

Thanks a ton for the kind words!

Unfortunately, CivicVX.com has been down for a couple years now and I've had no time/drive to get it going again. I'm glad to have lent a hand with the information and development of this forum and some others as well. I'll still be checking in often here though as I'll be keeping track of my MPG for the next vehicle I get.

I will miss this VX, but when my kids are bumping their heads getting in and out all the time now and getting cramped feet from the front seats being far enough back to be in a comfortable spot for the driver and occasional front seat passenger, its time to get something a little bigger, with at least four doors.

So basically I'm looking for a 96-03 Impreza Outback Wagon but having trouble finding one in a 5 speed. I've had an offer of trade for a 2001 Forester Auto, but am hesitant since average MPG of them is about 24MPG. With the Impreza and it's 2.2L motor, I can realistically achieve about 30MPG which I can live with since I don't put as many miles on my car now that I've moved.

I hope someone comes along soon with an offer, either in trade or outright buying, so I can get my "new" car before winter comes around.

If you find yourself coming east in the next little bit, my buddy is selling his car, can't believe it hasn't sold yet. It's far for you though, Cambridge ontario.
[ForSale] 2005 Subaru Legacy Sedan 5spd

You have to import it and get it home though. Cool VX though! Good luck with the sale.

Thanks Tom for all the great vx info that you posted over the years. All the research you did on the leanburn stuff when nobody talked about IP+ or D14 or ... I read every post. Thanks

That Subaru of your friends is tempting 2000neon but a little far as you stated. I also half a soft spot for the 97-01 impreza body style though and want to have owned one in my life. And the bug-eyed subies are growing on me as well.
