Another eco-trucker?

An interesting find today. An extreme take on the boattail angle & truck bed covers. There is a unique & retro-look to it. It harkens back to 50's fin styling design with the the existing upright rear lights create vertical fins. An observant reader specifically mentions the rear designs of Henry J Vagabond made by Kaiser-Fraser motors.

Another added flavor in the aero truck covers.

Wow, that's really ineresting. It doesn't look like it opens up to me, so I think they have connected it to the cabin. The "truck" look with lots of interior "cabin" volume.

i don't think you want the truck bed fixed to the cab.
trucks normally use that small gap between cab and bed for flex?
it could be connected, but it's quite a crawl-space.

I have a feeling this wasn't meant to improve aerodynamics.

Me too, but I'm still curious. That truck appears to be near Eden Prairie, Minnesota, because of the storefronts in the picture :

I elect Frank to go on a scouting mission to find this truck and learn it's nefarious(?) secrets!

It's for modularity, actually. Trucks were designed originally with "work" in mind, so the beds get damaged, and would be replaced periodically. It helps when it's not permanently attached.

Flexing is a bonus, if you're into that sort of thing, but when's the last time you saw an off-road truck at full articulation with the cab and bed misaligned enough to even notice?

When I help guys with custom trucks, we usually put covers on the bed and cut out the cab back to make it a van-like vehicle, or I've also done a camper back for a guy with a door in the back of the cab for internal access to the camper area.

Frank will say he's snowed in (noticed the snow in the picture?) and can't get out until May, except maybe for riding his redneck recumbent

J

Take a look at Henry J.Kaiser's "Henry-J" beloved by some drag racers.
