Civic vtec-e ek3 Lean-burning

Hi,

I'm from the Netherlands and I just started working as a engineer.
I've always loved cars and like to work on them (hobby).
I have had 4 cars already, did some racing with them primarily auto-x.

Performance wise there's already alot off knowledge, but improving your car to get the best mileage isn't explored that much.
So this make's it more off a challange and that's way I want to hypermill my car.
I still want to do some auto-x once a month so i'll combine the best of both worlds.

As a student I got sick off the appalling public transport, so I bought myself
a honda civic 1.5 vtec-e, with leanburning mode.
Stock with some adjusted driving I got about 1L/20KM that's about 47MPG!
Quite good for stock.
Its not the nicesist civic buth i got it for cheap, which was a must as a student.
And for my daily commute to work a go by bicycle, so i'm using it only in my spare time. This makes tracking the mpg's difficalt.

current modyfications:
-General maintenance, and rust prefention.
-Lowered it with coil-overs from ast suspension
-Got larger winter wheels from the new mini cooper 175/60/r16 runflat
The steelies do have al the same dimensions as the stock steely, except for the diameter 14" vs 16".
With aerodynamic bmw 7-series hub-caps.
-Aerodynamic 15" opel rims.

Stock

Last winter

This summer

That's a good looking car, especially with the BMW rims. Welcome aboard!

Did my first real aeromod, all be it a small one.
I use my right side mirror alot, with parking near the sidewalk, so I downsized it.
It's alot smaller then OEM and the housing I made around it is aerodynamic so I sure its a improvement on reduction in frontal area and I tuft tested it and the turbalence is also reduced.
I also made it so its removable and still adjustuble.

differance in size

No I don't have a MPguino yet, becouse I must have made at least 20messenges on the forum to send to seller a PM.
And I have to becouse it has to be shipped to Holland.

But I tuft tested it on the side window and it made a big difference, much less turbelance.

It''s been very windy up here so couldn't do some Drag calculations.
But removed the antanna.

I also relocated the front number plate, the oem plate-holder extruded about 4cm from the body, which doesn't improve the cars aerodynamic shape.
I also wanted to (particly)block the lower grill, becouse the engine's never got hot and I didn't hear the radiator fan turn on, except if i was standing still on a warm day in traffic.
So i combined the 2, made sideplates for the plate holder, so that there wouldn't be a low pressure aeria behind the plate (which couses turbilance)

Today I bought a "spoiler" off an opel corsa b, it has side flaps which turn inwarth.
I want to modify it so that is will be a kammback spoiler.
I'm gonna experiment with fluidviz to see what's the best setup to let to flow stay attached.
