Commercial Aero Race Wheel covers (clear acrylic)

Hello -

Found these on the Summit Racing website :

Aero Race Wheels 54-500006 - Aero Race Wheels Mud Covers - Overview - SummitRacing.com

Aero Race Wheels 54-300003 - Aero Race Wheels Mud Covers - Overview - SummitRacing.com
Aero Race Wheels P905511 - Aero Race Wheels Mud Covers - Overview - SummitRacing.com
Aero Race Wheels P905513 - Aero Race Wheels Mud Covers - Overview - SummitRacing.com

Very pri$ey, and not really for aero as much as keeping the mud from caking onto the wheel(?).

At least it's neat to seem someone doing it.

that's not a bad idea. I like the look of my rims, but don't like not having the most aerodynamic rims available.

Seems like using Dzus fasteners attached directly to balancing weight clips would work, so you could use the WalMart aluminum pizza pans for ~$4 each.

3 Dzus fasteners per wheel, each attached to balance weight clip. No ring needed. How light and inexpensive could that be?

Or, instead of aluminum pizza pans, or expensive Lexan, use PETG plastic, which is vastly stronger than plexiglass and much more impact resistant.

You don't need but two smoothy wheel covers anyway, 'cause you were about to make a set of fender skirts for the rear wheels anyway.

I didn't see any. Maybe we can find them "in action" at an autocross website.

As cheap and simple as pizza pans are, i like my rims. Hence why those clear covers really interest me. Of course I'd never buy them, only duplicate them
