Man, if you lived near central Florida I'd hook you up with some pallet liners for your lower aero panels, but that's a long haul!
You still have to hook me up with some. My car looks pretty empty underneath.

Awesome job, Balto. I was shooting for 70+, but I don't think I'm gonna make it with this tank. It's slightly going up on the FCD, though. It went all the way down to 67.2 last week, so I don't really have high hopes for this tank. I've got a third of a tank left, though, and it was at 68.8 when I pulled into work this morning. I need to get at least 72.5 on the FCD to get a tank above 70, so that's what I'm shooting for. Obviously not with this tank.

We're both going to have to step it up! Your brother is sitting at around 75 mpg on his FCD and rising @ over 450 miles on this tank. I ended up at right around 69 mpg this tank with my FCD showing 71.9 mpg, the last two tanks it has been off right at 3 mpg to the high side.

His trip to work is all highway miles. I don't think I could beat that if I tried. Plus that three story parking garage at the end of my commute doesn't really help, either. That's pretty awesome, though. He'll definitely wipe the floor with my mileage on the next fill-up. I'm still at 68.8 on the FCD, and on the low side of it, bouncing back and forth between 68.8 and 68.6.

I was looking over the service manual, and supposedly it's recommended that you fill up with 91 octane.

My commute is all freeway, and I drive the Mustang around town. I do have 7 miles of city driving right at the beginning of my commute , with 3 miles at the end so yea. The insight never sees city otherwise.

I've tried premium 93, mid grade 91, ethanol-free 87, etc . . . . in the Festiva and in both Insights. I have never had a noticeable gain in fuel economy in any of the cases, just paid more at the pump.

I am curious as to what gas everybody uses in their Insights, though.

I run 87. Same in the Mustang, 87. Makes no difference unless your running FI or crazy NA horsepower.

I tried higher and saw no improvement. Perhaps the "91" in the manual is not AKI?

91 RON = 87 AKI

Why would it help FE? All higher octane does is prevent detonation. If your insight is detonating with 87,please seek help for your car.
