Why not try 3-tech in Ontario? Or try a junkyard for the earlier model, to get the matching computer with the cam?
You can leave the transmission alone and use larger wheels to get the same effect, if you can handle the mountains. 55 HP only counts if you are in that RPM range with your foot on the floor. A torquey engine is easier on the ears and wallet, but won't beat a determined user of more HP.
