My gas car is currently sitting around 3 miles away at my parents house, where it will stay for most of the summer, I do still use it about once per week to haul stuff, or go long distances.
My last tank of gas lasted about 25 days and took around 8.5 gallons to fill, averaged 39.5mpg, yes that is low for a civic VX, even with 260,000 miles on it and for most of the tank I still had snow tires on the car, the other reason for the low mileage is I only used it for hauling, I put 30 miles on it with 805 pounds of lead acid batteries in the back, another 90 miles with 535 pounds of lead acid batteries and a 120 pound passenger, 80 miles with a flat bed trailer that was empty for half the trip and had 300 pounds of dry wall in it the other half, 10 miles half with 700 pounds of drywall hauled one way, 20 miles with a trailer that had two canoes on it and the remaining miles were put on without any cargo or trailers.
Using my car in this way allowed me to not barrow a truck, as the best I can get with my parents Ford ranger is around 20mpg.
