In warm up the best solution would be no intercooler. I had the same idea for next front bumber verison...

When your engine temperatures start to rise and you dont have grille which you can open from the cabin. There two solutions:

1. Drive slower, good for mpg
2. turn you central air blower to the max rpms, bad for mpg. If temperatures still rise you have to put the blowing temperature to max warm position even if it freaking hot in the car already. Temperatures will go down in the engine but up in the cabin .

That is the reason why I will build remote controlled grill block...
