This weekend I took a trip up north to visit my dad. I used a different route than I have in the past which avoids the interstate and thus the 65 mph zone. Instead, I cut of 15 miles off the trip, and travel on county roads with 45 and 55 mph limits with the occasional town to slow down for. Well, the payoff was huge.
563.9 miles on
8.48 gallons gives me
66.5 mpg! My previous best was 59.2 mpg, and now seems so low.
We'll see what my daily driving comes out to, but it shouldn't be too much lower than that. Last year my record was 59 mpg, and my average was round 57 for daily commuting. So, I'm guessing I should be able to hold onto the mid 60s for the rest of the summer without any additional mods.
