I have a volt meter on the handle bars of my bike so I can moniter the voltage drop of the batteries, it's pretty amazing to see how they drop, I also have a loop of wire that I can hook the DC clamp on amp meter to, to see how many amps I'm drawing, it's fasinating to track that information.
