That's a pretty convoluted way to put it... noise cancelling speakers let picky buyers deal with better-mpg, noisier engine.
Novel concept though. The peanut gallery here at ecomodder often forgets that they are NOT the target market of the car producers. "The public" wants it all and is not willing to sacrifice comfort for mpg - this is a good way to deal.
