Porsches in general tend to be light (at least the older ones). They have big brakes and tough trannies, both good things for electrics. The motors are pretty expensive to rebuild. For my old 911, rebuilds started at about $5k (that means nothing was wrong with the motor) and likely would have been closer to $10k! The motors are pretty complicated. I think the aircooled ones make the conversion a bit easier. The exhaust comes off with the motor, there is no heater core so doing a heater is easier. Many conversions wind up tail heavy. With a rear engined, rear heavy car as a starting point I'm actually going to wind up with a smaller % of the weight on the rear wheels.
