Your Yaris is a great example of an efficient small car.
The Trabant was one of the worst-built POS ever foisted off on the world. Not to mention inefficient and gawdawful dirty out the tailpipe.
If you insist on a two-stroke... look at some of the latest snowmobiles. They are pretty much the pinnacle of that genre... such as it is. I once saw a dune buggy that had been repowered by a Polaris two-stroke snowmobile engine. 0-60 in about 4 seconds. 250 hp out of 450 cc's (IIRC). Insanely fast. Relatively easy on fuel too... in context.
