The extra taller gear should help my mileage, especially on the freeway, correct? Obviously that isnt cost effect but one day my transmission will need replaced and Im wondering if this is a viable option. Thats generally how I do upgrades, when something goes bad a replace it with something better.
old thread....but the 6th gear ratio on the RSX-S is the same as the 5th gear ratio on the base RSX. so no, it wont really help.

You can add a 6th gear to your transmission and the TSX & 06+ Civic SI has taller 6th gears. This will drop cruising rpm, just add the 6th gear though, you don't want the whole transmission. The parts you need can be had for about $250 new. Look up adding a 6th gear to an element, same steps.
