I drive an 02 saturn sl, but have a manual transmission. Im not sure how much difference the automatic tranny makes, but your numbers seem low compared to what Im seeing. My lowest fe was around 33.5 and that was my "balls to the wall" tank where I tried to get the lowest fe possible. I would find out if something is wrong with the car before trying to hypermile.
