It's not about being aggressive, it's about starting fully warmed up w/ what are essentially perfect test conditions. All the data is there on the EPA's site, whether or not you wanna believe it. For that matter, anyone can say that no one can drive more efficiently then they are, but that doesn't mean they're right, especially w/o instrumentation and test conditions (new tuned truck, no wind, what are probably LRR tires, etc...).

As for the orange diesel, that's a great example IMO. It's pulling ~25mpg combined, probably in the high twenties at 50mph highway provided what's in the back doesn't cause too much drag. With the ~13% difference in diesel versus gasoline energy, it would still be able to pull a couple mpg less mileage give or take w/ a gasser and the proper gearing. Probably better than that, or at least the same mileage at higher speeds, w/ a full boattail.
